선요(禪要) 를 통한 선(禪)의 깨달음 고찰

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 간화선의 깨달음의 과정을 고찰하여 간화선의 실용화와 대중화에 대한 단초를 마련하는 데에있다. 이를 위해 고봉화상선요(高峰和尙禪要) 를 통해 전달되는 선의 깨달음의 내용이 무엇인지 선요의 본문을바탕으로 알아보고, 이러한 깨달음의 내용을 실현하는 방법인 삼요(三要)를 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 선요의 본문을 바탕으로 1. ‘언어와 문자에 대한 탈분별(脫分別)’과 2. ‘여실지견(如實知見)의 즐거움’, 3. ‘무상(無常)과 연기(緣起)를 통한 평상심(平常心)’을 소제목으로 추려내어 원문과의 비교를 통해 선요에서 전달하려는 선의 깨달음의 내용이 무엇인지 고찰하였다. 다음으로는 선요의 삼요(三要)를 1. ‘확고부동한믿음의 강조 – 대신근(大信根)’, 2. ‘깨달음에 대한 끊임없는 정진의 욕구 – 대분지(大憤志)’, 3. ‘생사를 거는 문제제기-대의정(大疑情)’으로 선요에서 전하는 간화삼요의 뜻을 조명하여 선의 깨달음의 내용을 실현하는 방법을 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 통해 선요에서는 연기와 무아에 대한 바른 이해를 갖추면 그것을 자기 삶을 통해 실천해 나가야겠다는 간절한 염원이 생기며. 그래서 연기와 무아에 맞게 사고하고 행동하여 이것이 인격화되는 길을 보여준다. 선요에서 나타난 선은 바로 이 진리를 당장 이 자리에서 체화(體化)하거나 환히 드러내 보이는 길을 보여준다. 따라서 선요에서 말하는 깨달음은 바로 공(空)에 바탕을 둔 반야행(般若行)이며, 그 반야는 연기와 무아에 근거한다. 선요에서의 깨달음은 그것에 집착하지 않고 의도하지 않음으로써 오히려 드러나고, 그 모든 것은 일상생활의 평상심으로 보여준다. 이러한 평상심은 연기의 법칙을 체득한 깨달은 자의 본래면목(本來面目)이라고 할 수 있다. 이런 깨달음을 얻는 과정인 선요에서의 삼요(三要)는 큰 믿음[大信根]과 큰 분심[大憤志], 큰 의심[大疑情] 등이 세 요소가 모두 갖추어진 상호보완적 관계의 성격을 갖는다. 즉, 의심[大疑情]을 통해 믿음에 대한 확신[大信根]이 생기고, 다시 이는 본래심의 자각적인 깨달음으로 전향[大憤志]됨으로써 삼요는 서로에 의해 조건 지워지며추동해나가는 연기적 관계임을 선요에서는 밝힌다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to prepare the basis for the practicalization and popularization of Ganhwaseon by examining the process of enlightenment of Ganhwaseon. For this purpose, based on the text of Seonyo, what is the content of the enlightenment of Zen delivered through Gobonghwasangseonyo(高峰和尙禪要) In this study, first, based on the main text of Seonyo, 1. ‘De-distinguishment(脫分別) of language and writing‘, 2. ‘The pleasure of being aware of the truth(如實知見)’, 3. Through ‘Interdependent arising(緣起)’ and ‘Impermanence(無常)’ : ‘Ordinary state of mind ; (平常心)’ were selected as a sub-title and compared with the original text, the content of the enlightenment of Zen to be conveyed in Seonyo was considered. Next, the three point of Seonyo(三要): 1. ‘Emphasis on inflexibility faith - The Great Faith(大信根)’, 2. ‘The desire for continuous effort for enlightenment - The Great Aspiration(大憤志)’, By illuminating the meaning of Ganhwa Samyo(看話三要) conveyed in Seonyo with 3. ‘Raising the issue of life and death - The Great Question(大疑情)’, we looked at how to realize the content of the enlightenment of Zen. Through this study, in Seonyo, if we have a correct understanding of Interdependent arising(緣起) and no-self(無我), we will have a strong desire to put it into practice in our own life. Therefore, it shows the way to humane by thinking and acting in accordance with Interdependent arising(緣起) and no-self(無我). The Zen shown in the seonyo shows the way to embody or brightly reveal this very truth right here and now. Therefore, the enlightenment spoken of in Seonyo is the practice of Wisdom in Buddhism(般若行), which is based on Interdependent arising(緣起) and no-self(無我). Enlightenment in Seonyo is rather revealed by not obsessed with it and not intentionally, and all of it is shown in the ordinary mind of everyday life. This ordinary mind can be said to be the genuine aspect of an enlightened person who has mastered Interdependent arising(緣起). The three songs in Seonyo, which is the process of attaining such enlightenment, are a complementary relationship in which all three elements, such as great faith [大信根], great aspiration [大憤志], and great question [大疑情], are provided. has the character of that is, through question [大疑情], confidence in faith [大信根] is generated, and this is converted to a conscious realization of the genuine aspect [大憤志]. Sunyo reveals that it is a complementary relationship.
