국문 초록

본 연구에서는 16~18세기 유럽에서 유행하던 그랜드 투어의 관광사적 의미와 함께 예술 분야, 특히 클래식 음악 예술에 미친 영향을 분석하였다. 그랜드 투어는 대중관광이 활성화되기 전, 유럽의 귀족 계층을 중심으로 고전주의 전통의 중심인 이탈리아를 최종 목적지로 수년간 다양한 지식과 교양을 쌓는 기회로 활용되었다. 그랜드 투어는 예술 분야에서 많은 예술가의 작품 활동에 영감을 제공하였고, 인문학에서 고대 그리스와 로마를 열망하며인간의 위대함을 강조하는 신고전주의 운동은 그랜드 투어를 통해 유럽 전역으로 더욱 확산하는 계기가 되었다. 미술 분야에서 고대 로마 유적을 배경으로 한 풍경화가 유행하였고, 화가의 목가적이고 신화적인 상상력을 더하여고전적인 방식으로 풍경을 해석하는 독립된 장르가 발생하였다. 특히 음악가들은 이탈리아의 풍경과 더불어 건축과 오페라 등 문화의 영향을 받아 그 감동을 작품 활동에 반영하였다. 그랜드 투어는 영국과 프랑스를 중심으로다양한 국가의 예술가들이 활동 영역을 옮겨 전 유럽에 문화예술이 교류하는 계기가 되었다. 멘델스존은 괴테의 권유로 영국과 스코틀랜드를 시작으로 그랜드 투어를 시작하였다. 이곳에서 교향곡 제3번<스코틀랜드>를 구상하여 스코틀랜드 민속음악을 차용한 선율로 기존의 낭만적인 음악과 다른 색채의 작품을 만들어냈다. 현지의 역사적 사건과 자연 풍경을 배경으로 민속 춤곡 선율을 활용한 <스코틀랜드>와 함께, 이탈리아의 밝은 전원생활을 경쾌한 느낌으로 전개한 교향곡 제4번 <이탈리아>를 작곡하였다. <이탈리아>에서도 민속 무곡인 살타렐로와 타란텔라의 선율을 사용하여 이국적인 느낌을 강조하였다. 그랜드 투어는 이탈리아를 중심으로 인본주의와 고전주의를 열망하는 당대의 신고전주의와 결합하여 동시대의예술가들에게 영향을 미쳐 수많은 걸작을 남기는 동기가 되었다. 멘델스존 역시 스코틀랜드와 이탈리아를 여행한그랜드 투어를 통하여 겪게 된 경험과 영감을 담아 민속적인 선율과 리듬을 차용하고 지역 특유의 자연을 묘사하여 이국적인 색채감과 생동감이 넘치는 걸작을 남겼다.

영문 초록

In this study, the significance of the grand tour in the tourism history, which was popular in Europe from the 16th to 18th centuries, and its influence on the arts, especially classical music, were analyzed. Before the mass tourism was activated, the grand tour was utilized as an opportunity to build up the knowledge and culture among the European aristocracy over the years. Italy was the final destination of the grand tour as it was the center of the classical tradition. The grand tour inspired many artists and produced unique trend in their artistic works. In the humanities, the neoclassical movement provided an opportunity to further spread through the grand tour. In fine art, landscape paintings based on ancient Roman ruins became popular, and an independent genre was created in which painters interpret landscapes in a classical way by adding idyllic and mythical imagination. In particular, musicians were influenced by culture such as architecture and opera, along with the Italian landscape, and reflected the impression in their works. The grand tour became an opportunity for cultural and artistic exchanges throughout Europe, mainly in England and France, by moving artists from various countries. Mendelssohn started the grand tour from England and Scotland with the recommendation of Goethe. Mendelssohn sketched the Symphony No. 3 in Scotland. With a melody borrowed from Scottish folk music, he created a work of a different color from the traditional romantic music. He composed , the 4th symphony that conveyed the bright country life of Italy with joyful mood, along with , which used a folk dance melody with the historical events of the location and its natural scenery. also emphasized the exotic sentiment by using folk dance melodies of Saltarello and Tarantella. Grand tour became the motivation for contemporary artists to leave many masterpieces by combining with the neoclassicism, which aspired to humanism and classicism, mainly in Italy. Through the experiences and inspirations from his grand tour of Scotland and Italy, Mendelssohn also left masterpieces of full of exotic colors and vitality as he borrowed folk melodies and rhythms, and described the unique nature of the region in the pieces.
