국문 초록

이 연구에서는 대학생들의 행복경험에 관하여 참여자 중심의 포토보이스 연구라는 질적연구방법론을 활용하여, 남자 대학생들의 행복경험에 관한 내용과 그 의미를 깊이 탐구해보고자 하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 남자 대학생 총 5명을 대상으로 집단초점면담 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫 번째로 연구참여자들은 생리적 욕구와 안전감이 매우 중요한 행복의 기본적인 조건으로 신체, 심리 및 경제적으로 안정감이 확보된 때 행복을 경험하였다. 두 번째로 연구참여자들에게 행복은 낯설고 신선한 경험의 시도, 혹은 다양한 취미, 체험 및 활동을 통해오감이 만족될 때 행복을 경험하였다. 세 번째로 연구참여자들에게 행복은 의무적인 일에서 벗어나 오롯이 혼자만의 시간을 보낼 때 경험되기도 하지만 동시에 가족, 친구 및 연인 등 타인과의 만남을 통해 누릴 수 있는 경험으로 양가적 속성을 지닌다. 네 번째로 연구참여자들에게 행복은 자신이 설정한 목표와 계획적인 활동을 성공적으로수행한 때 경험되는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯 번째로 연구참여자들에게 행복은 자연을 보고 느낄 때 경험되는 것이밝혀짐에 따라, 특히 도시인에게 자연이 행복감을 경험하게 해주는 중요한 요소가 될 수 있음을 알려준다. 본 연구는 포토보이스를 통해 남자 대학생들이 주관적으로 인식하는 행복경험이 어떠한지 살펴봄으로써, 행복개념에 관한 이해와 통찰을 제공했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the contents and meaning of the happiness experience of college students in depth by using a qualitative research methodology called participant-centered photo-voice study on the happiness experience perceived by male college students. As a result, first, the study participants experienced a sense of happiness when a sense of stability was secured physically, psychologically, and economically as basic conditions for happiness where physiological needs and safety are very important. Second, the study participants experienced happiness when their five senses were satisfied through attempts of unfamiliar and fresh experiences, or various hobbies, experiences, and activities. Third, for the study participants, happiness is experienced when they spend time alone, away from mandatory work, but at the same time, it has ambivalent properties as an experience that can be enjoyed when meeting others such as family, friends, and lovers. Fourth, it was found that happiness was experienced when the goals and planned activities set by the study participants were successfully carried out. Fifth, as it turns out that happiness is experienced when seeing and feeling nature for study participants, it informs that nature can be an important factor in experiencing happiness, especially for city dwellers. This study is meaningful in that it provided an understanding and insight into the concept of happiness by observing and reflecting on the happiness experience subjectively perceived by male college students through photo voice.
