텔레비전 드라마와 로봇의 상상력

국문 초록

이 글은 도래할 포스트휴먼 시대에 로봇과 인간의 관계 정립 방법에 대해 모색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 과학기술의 발달은 우리 삶의 많은 부분을 바꿔 놓았다. 맥루한이 지적한 대로 기계에 의존하다 보니 신체 일부가마비되었는데 감정 역시도 침식당했다. 여기에 개인화까지 극심해지면서 감정 소모를 필요로 하는 타자와의 관계맺음을 불필요하게 느낀다. 그러면서도 한편으로는 고독과 소외를 느껴 관계 맺음에서 오는 피로함이 없으면서도함께 하고 있다는 느낌을 주는 대상으로 이를 대리하려 한다. 그러나 이와 같은 관계는 일방적인 것으로 관계 자체에 대한 의미를 왜곡시킬 수 있어 문제적이다. 이에 본고에서는 이와 같은 인간과 로봇의 관계를 로봇의 상상력을 재현한 텔레비전 드라마를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그 결과 이들 텔레비전 드라마에서도 이들의 관계는 상호적이고 대등한 속에서 정서를 주고받고 서로에게 영향을 주는 관계이기보다는 주종으로 나타나고 있었다. 대개의 드라마는 창조자가 욕망하는 대상을 중개하는 존재로서 휴머노이드 로봇을 재현했다. 그런데 이와 같은 관계는 창조자의 상상 안에 머무는 관계로 실재가 아니라 망상에 가깝다 할 수 있다. 그러다 보니 이들 휴머노이드 로봇은 주체를 상징계로 끌어내 줄 수 있는 진정한 타자가 되지는 못했다. 유일하게 <너도 인간이니?>만이 창조자와 모자 관계를 형성하며 그 안에서 정서를 교환하고올바른 관계를 형성함으로써 개별적 주체로서 성장한 모습을 보여 주었다. 이와 같은 로봇과 인간의 관계 설정은도래할 포스트휴먼 시대에 인간과 비-인간 존재의 관계 설정에도 시사하는 바가 크다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to examine how to establish a relationship between robots and humans in the post-human era to come. The development of science and technology has changed many parts of our lives. As McLuhan pointed out, relying on machines paralyzed parts of our body, but our emotions were also eroded. In addition, as personalization becomes extreme, establishing relationships with others that need emotional exhaustion feels unnecessary. At the same time, we try to replace it with a target that gives a feeling of being together without the fatigue of building relationships due to loneliness and alienation. However, such a relationship is problematic because it is one-sided and may distort the meaning of the relationship itself. In this paper, therefore, we examined the relationship between humans and robots with a focus on television dramas that reproduce the imagination of robots. As a result, even in these TV dramas, their relationship was shown to be master and servant rather than a relationship of exchanging emotions and influencing each other in a mutual and equal manner. Most dramas reproduced humanoid robots as an intermediary for the target that the creator desires. However, such a relationship remains within the creator’s imagination, and it can be said to be closer to delusion rather than reality. As a result, these humanoid robots did not become true others who could bring the subject into the symbolic realm. only showed growth as an individual subject by forming a relationship between the mother and son with the creator, exchanging emotions and forming the right relationship. As shown above, in order for robots and humans to coexist, it is necessary to break away from anthropocentrism. For the growth of either side, the direction should be set as growing together rather than making either side a means.
