국문 초록

본 연구에서는 불교에서의 효사상을 현대적 수용 관점에서 살펴보았다. 효의 본질은 인간다움으로 이것은 불성(佛性)의 회복을 통한 깨달음으로도 볼 수 있다. 효사상의 근거와 효의 윤리를 재가자의 효 윤리, 출가자의 효윤리, 사후의 효의 윤리 세 가지 측면에서 살펴보고 현대사회에서의 효의 윤리실천을 제시해 보았다. 산업 기술의고도화로 인하여 물질적 풍요는 이루었지만, 물질 만능주의와 지나친 실리주의는 인성교육방향에서 소외 현상을 가속화 시켰다. 이러한 소외 현상은 삶의 가치를 변화시키기에 충분해 보인다. 효는 기본적으로 보편적 가치로 반경이 확대됨에 따라 가족윤리로 인정받았다. 과거의 효는 인간의 개인․사회적 활동에서 인격을 형성하는 원리로 작용을 하였지만, 현대 사회처럼 고도화된 사회에서는 효만으로는 설명할 수없는 도덕규범이 존재한다. 특히 자유와 평등을 중시하는 민주주의가 정착됨에 따라 정통적 효 윤리는 다양한 측면에서 가치관의 충돌을 유발하고 있다. 따라서 현대사회에서는 상호 공존하고 공유될 수 있는 인성위주의 합리적인 효가 필요하다. 불교 효 사상의 현대적 수용 중심으로 불교의 효 윤리를 실천할 수 있는 방안을 설정하는데도움이 되게 하려는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다.

영문 초록

In this study, we examined filial piety in Buddhism from a modern perspective. The essence of filial piety is humanity, which can also be seen as enlightenment through the restoration of Buddhism. It was examied the basis of filiam piety and the three aspects of the ethics of filial piety, which are the ethics of filial piety of a Buddhist layman, the ethics of filial piety of a Buddhist monk, and the ethics of filial piety to the deceased, and the practice of filial piety in modern society. Material affluence has been achieved by the advancement of industrial technology, but materialism and excessive pragmatism have accelerated alienation in the direction of personality education. This alienation seems sufficient to have changed the value of life. Filial piety was basically recognized as a family ethic as its radius expanded to universal values. In the past, filial piety served as a principle of forming character in human individual and social activities, but in advanced societies like modern society, there are moral norms that cannot be explained by filial piety. In particular, as democracy, which values freedom and equality, is established, the ethics of orthodox filial piety have caused value conflicts in various aspects. Therefore, in modern society, a personality-oriented rational effect that can coexist and be shared is necessary. The purpose of this study was to help establish ways to practice the filial ethics of Buddhism, focusing on the modern acceptance of Buddhist filial piety.
