공공미술작품의 관리를 위한 ‘보존과학’의 역할과 필요성

국문 초록

조각공원은 1980년대를 기점으로 조성되기 시작해 도시의 생산적, 기능적 역할에 예술적, 문화적 기능을 입혀공공성과 예술성이 융합된 정서를 통해 도시의 환경을 개선하는 중요한 전환점이었다. 그러나 양적인 증가와 조각공원의 조경성에만 집중된 관리방안은 오랜 기간 야외에 노출되어 손상되어지고 있는 조각 작품에 대한 미흡한 보존·관리로 이어지고 있다. 지역별 조각공원에 전시 중인 작품의 보존 상태를 연구·조사한 결과 대기환경오염물과환경적 요인으로 의해 손상된 작품이 상당 수 존재하였으며, 물리적 또는 인위적 요인에 의해 훼손된 작품도 방치되어 있어 체계적인 보존·관리 시스템이 필요한 실정이다. 또한 재질별 작품의 특성에 맞는 과학적 진단방법과 보존처리 방안을 제시하였으며, 이를 통해 현대미술 작품의 보존·관리에 대한 중요성과 인식전환의 필요성을 고찰하고 등록문화재 등재를 위한 제언을 통해 현대미술 작품의 항구적인 보존·관리 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Started to be created in 1980s, sculpture parks had been an important turning point for improving urban environment through the emotion that combined publicness and artistry adding artistic and cultural function to the productive and functional role of cities. However, quantitative increase and management plan concentrated only on the landscape of sculpture park have led to insufficient conservation·management of sculptures that are being damaged by lengthy exposure to the outdoor. As a result of research·investigation of the status of conservation of works exhibited in sculpture parks in each region, there are a considerable number of works that are damaged by air pollutants and environmental factors, and some are left unattended after damaged by physical or artificial factors, so a systematic conservation·management system is considered necessary. This study also suggested scientific diagnosis method and management plan suited to the different materials of works, and considered significance of conservation ·management of art works and necessity of change in perception through the foregoing, and also presented a permanent conservation·management plan for modern art works through the suggestion for registration as registered cultural properties.
