학생선택 교육과정 운영학교의 실천 사례 분석과 고교학점제에의 시사점

국문 초록

제7차 교육과정 이후로 개인적 필요와 적성, 능력에 따라 진로를 선택할 수 있는 선택형 교육과정은 국가 교육의 중점사항이었으나, 교사 수급이나 시설의 미비, 대입제도와의 불일치 등으로 성공적인 운영 사례를 찾아보기는 어려웠다. 이 연구는 6년 동안 선택형 교육과정을 운영한 충남삼성고의 학생의 적성과 진로에 따른 선택형 교육과정 편성 및 운영 방안 사례를 통해 고교학점제의 시사점을 모색해 보고자 하였다. 학생선택 교육과정 운영 실제에서 나타난 특징을 살펴보면, 첫째, ‘과정’을 설치하여 과목 선택에 대한 혼란을 막고 학생들 선택을 가이드 한 것이 효과적이었다. 학생은 과정을 선택하기는 하지만 ‘자율선택’을 통해 자신의 흥미나 진학을 고려한 다양한 과목 선택을 선택하고 있었다. 둘째, 과정의 성격을 잘 드러낼 수 있는 다양한 교과(심화교과 및 전문교과 포함)를 개설하였는데, 학생들은 자신의 흥미나 관심뿐 아니라 학업역량을 고려하여 과목을 선택하고 있었다. 특히 내신 성적을 받기 어려운 소수과목이나 난이도가 높은 심화과목을 선택하는 사례가 많았다. 셋째, 자연공학계열 학생들이 인문사회계열 과목과 영어과목을 수강하는 경우가 많았다. 대학진학과 관련성이 없는 과목이어도 흥미가 있거나 자신의 역량을 강화하는데 필요한 과목이면 선택하는 경향을 보였다. 넷째, 진학과의 연계성을 고려했을 때 심화교과를 선택했거나 자신의 진로나 특성이 드러나도록 개별화된 포트폴리오를 만든 학생일수록 좋은 진학결과를 보여주었다. 충남삼성고의 실천 사례를 통해 도출할 수 있는 시사점은 첫째, 일반교과 이외 진로선택이나 전문교과로의 폭 넓은 개설을 통해 학생 선택권의 양적 확대를 꾀하고, 둘째, 학생과 학부모가 선택하는 데 필요한 정보를 제공하거나 ‘과정’ 등의 제도를 통해 선택에 따른 혼란을 줄인다. 셋째, 학생의 적성과 진로, 흥미가 반영된 개별 포트폴리오를 만들고, 고교 교육과정과 대학 진학과의 세심한 연계를 통해 안정적이고 지속적인 선택이 이루어질 수 있도록 한다.

영문 초록

After the 7th curriculum, the students’ choice curriculum, which allows students to choose their career paths based on personal needs, aptitudes and abilities, was the focus of national education, but it was difficult to find actually successful cases of operation. The study tried to explore the implications of the high school credit system through examples of how to organize and operate a choice curriculum based on the aptitude and career path of students at Chungnamsamsung High School. Looking at the characteristics that emerged in the actual operation, firstly, it was effective to install a course to prevent confusion over the selection of subjects and guide the selection of students. Although students chose courses, they were choosing various subjects that considered their interest or advancement. Second, various subjects were opened to reveal the nature of the course, and students were choosing the subjects in consideration of their academic ability as well as their interest and need. In particular, there were many cases of choosing a few subjects that were difficult to get grades for school records. Third, natural-engineering course students often took courses in humanities and social studies and English. Even if the subjects were not related to college entrance, they tended to choose subjects.. Fourth, considering the connection with the college entrance, students who chose advanced subjects or created individual portfolios to reveal their career paths or characteristics showed better results. The implications that can be derived from the study are to expand the student s options quantitatively by opening career related or specialized subjects, and secondly, to provide information necessary for students and parents to reduce confusion caused by selection through a system such as courses. Third, create individual portfolios that reflect students aptitude, career path and interest, and carefully link high school curricula with college entrance so that stable and continuous choices can be made.
