대학생들의 대학교육의 의미에 대한 인식 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 오늘날 사회변화에 따른 대학의 정체성 확립을 위한 한 방안으로 대학생들이 인식하고 있는 대학교육에 대한 의미를 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 D광역시에 소재하는 한 대학교 학생들을 대상으로 대학교육의 의미에 대한 반성적 글쓰기를 실시하고 이를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 학생들은 대학 생활을 통해 학문적 전문성과 학습의 자율성, 자유와 책임, 어울림을 통한 사회적 성장을 경험하는 반면, 과목선택의 제한과 학점부담, 취업위주 운영으로 불만을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 이들은 사회요구로 인한 취업 위주의 대학 구조조정과 교육과정 운영을 우려하였으며, 대학의 교육적 본질을 학문탐구와 인격함양으로 여기고 있었다. 따라서 대학이 교육적 본질을 회복하기 위해서는 대학운영이 학습자를 중심으로 대학이 주체가 되어 이루어질 필요가 있음을 강조하였다. 결론으로 첫째, 대학생들은 대학의 현실적 필요성을 인정하면서도 교육적 본질 회복을 위한 정체성 확립을 더 중요하게 여기고 있으며 둘째, 대학생들의 대학의 교육적 본질에 대한 인식이 대학 생활을 통해 형성된다는 점에서 대학이 수행하는 중요한 교육적 기능에 주목할 필요가 있고 셋째, 대학의 교육적 본질과 정체성 확립을 위한 대학 차원에서의 진지한 고민과 방향설정이 필요함을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the view of undergraduates about mraning of university education. For this, reflective writing was used for 73 undergraduates who were enrolled university located in D metropolitan. The result of this study are as follows. It was appear that undergraduates went to experience specialties and autonomy as to learning, freedom and responsibility on their behaviors, and social growth through interaction with various peoples during university life. On the other hand, they were frustrated in that their subject options were really limited and felt so much pressure by obtaining higher grades. Above all they were dissatisfied with a university operating job-oriented business. Undergraduate had a perception that educational essences of university were pursuit on academics and character building of students. For recover educational essence of university, it is need that university must operate more autonomously and consider need of students. The conclusions drawn from this study shows are follows. Fitst, undergraduates are more important university identity establishment for educational essence recovery than realistic needs for job. Second, it is showed that university carry out educational function in the way that undergraduates had become aware of educational essence of university through life experiences in university. Third, it is need that administrators of university must be seriously consider to draw up plan for establishing identity of university.
