대학원 유학생의 학술적 글쓰기에서 나타난 교육적 함의

국문 초록

본 연구는 학술적 글쓰기가 상호텍스트성과 상호담화성이라는 특징을 갖고 있으며, 이와 같은 이유로 학술적 글쓰기는 필자가 어떤 담화로 텍스트를 완성하는지가 중요하다고 보았다. 특히 담화를 선택할 때, 필자가 어떤 검색어로 논문을 검색하느냐가 학술적 리터러시라고 전제하고, 학술 논문 서론에서의 검색어 양상에 주목했다. 이를 위해서 특정 전공 대학원 유학생을 대상으로 논문 제목을 제시하고, 서론을 중심으로 개요를 작성하도록 했다. 개요를 통해서 서론의 담화 구조와, 담화를 선택하기 위해서 사용한 검색어 종류, 그리고 그 검색어를 선택한 이유 등을 쓰게 하고, 이를 분석했다. 결과는 대학원 유학생이 검색어와 관련된 학술적 리터러시를 확보하고 있지 못하다는 것이었다. 그래서 검색어 사용과 관련된 문제들을 목록화하고, 이 문제를 해결할 수 있는 교육적 함의들을 제안했다. 텍스트에 어떤 담화가 들어가냐는 곧 얼마나 정확한 검색어로 적절한 논문을 발견했냐는 것과 관련된다. 이와 같은 미시적 리터러시 행위와 관련된 연구들이 활발히 진행되어 대학원 유학생의 학술적 리터러시를 강화할 수 있기를 바란다.

영문 초록

This study assumes that academic writing is characterized by intertextuality and interdiscursivity, so what discourses would be used by writers to complete texts is important for academic writing. Above all, what key words are used by writers for searching for theses is supposed as academic literacy, in selecting discourses, and this study focused on the aspects of key words in introductions. To this end, it presented some titles of theses to foreign graduate students who majored in certain subjects and asked them to write outlines around introductions. Then it analyzed the discourse structures of introductions, the kind of key words used to select discourses and the reasons for selecting the key words. The findings showed that foreign graduate students could not secure the academic literacy related with key words. This study, therefore, listed some problems associated with the use of key words and suggested educational implications for resolving such problems. What a kind of discours is inserted into a text is associated with how accurate key words were used to find proper theses. The academic literacy of foreign graduate students is expected to be reinforced by actively implementing studies on such micro literacy acts.
