예술과 과학기술의 융합에 대한 과학전공 학생들의 인식연구

국문 초록

과학교육현장에서는 예술을 통해 기존의 과학기술 중심적 사고의 한계를 극복하려는 시도들이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 예술-과학기술 융합교육과정 개발방향설정에 필요한 정보를 얻기 위해서 학습자의 관심과 요구를 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위해서, 국내의 한 국립 과학기술원의 재학생 150명에게 설문지를 배부하여 과학기술, 창의성, 예술의 관계에 대한 학생들의 시각 및 관심도를 조사하였다. 학생들의 응답들에 대해서 양적, 질적 방법을 적용하여 각각 기초통계와 빈도분석, 상관분석, 집단별 차이검증, 주제별 빈도분석을 차례로 실시하였다. 분석결과로부터 도출한 교육과정 개발방향은 다음 세 가지를 포함 한다: 1) 과학기술이나 지식에 대한 다양한 탐색과 해석을 유도하는 예술 창작기회를 제공 한다; 2) 학생들이 예술-과학기술 융합활동을 미적인 시도 이상의 의미로 생각할 수 있고 사회적 가치를 고려할 수 있도록 한다; 3) 학생들이 주도하는 학습공동체 형성을 위해 그룹과제를 통한 토론과 협력활동을 강화한다.

영문 초록

Efforts to overcome the limitations of conventional technocentric thinking through art have increased in the field of science education. This study examines the interests and needs of learners in order to gather information necessary for developing a curriculum that encourages the art-science convergence. A questionnaire was distributed to 150 students enrolled at a national university of science and technology to collect data on the students’ views of the relationship between creativity, technology, and art. The students responses were analyzed through quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis comprising basic statistics, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, group difference analysis, and frequency analysis by topic. Future directions for curriculum development drawn out from the data analysis include the following: 1) Provide opportunities for creating art in ways that encourage pluralist explorations by the students and interpretations of their scientific knowledge, 2) help students understand the meaning of their activities integrating art and science as more than aesthetic endeavors and to consider their social value, and 3) encourage discussions and collaborations through group assignments to promote the formation of a learning community led by students.
