대학 교양교육에서의 <독서와 소통> 교과목 운영 현황과 발전 방향

국문 초록

이 연구는 선행 연구를 통해 설계된 <독서와 소통> 교과목을 진행한 실제 내용 및 사례와 학습자들의 반응을 점검해 보고, 개선 방향을 모색해 보는 데에 목적을 두었다. 구체적으로 읽기-말하기-쓰기의 연계를 전제로 설계된 이 교과목 안에서 각각의 의사소통 영역이 어떤 식으로 연계되고, 운영되었는지 ‘텍스트 이해-사고의 확장-사고의 정리’ 단계로 살펴보았다. 아울러 학습자들을 대상으로 교과목에 관한 설문 조사를 시행하여 학습자들의 반응을 살펴보았다. 이러한 과정에서 분반 인원의 증가, 학습자들의 과제 및 실습의 부담과 텍스트에 대한 독서 편식 문제가 드러났다. 연구를 통해 드러난 문제를 해결하기 위해 다음과 같은 방안을 모색해 보았다. 첫째, 현재 있는 글쓰기 센터를 의사소통 센터로 확장하여 말하기, 읽기에 관한 부분도 상담이 이루어질 수 있도록 체계를 구축한다. 둘째, 워크숍을 활용하여 수업자료집을 제작하고 공유하면서 교수법 논의를 활성화한다. 아울러 온라인 설문 조사를 시행하여 매학기 학습자들의 반응을 살펴보면서 보완 및 개선해야 할 방법을 꾸준히 모색한다. 셋째, 교재 집필 시 과학이나 인문예술 분야 중에서 일부 선호도가 더 떨어지는 텍스트는 다른 텍스트로 교체하고, 시의성이 있으면서 학습자들의 관심사나 삶의 영역과 관련이 되는 문제 및 상호텍스트를 활용한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the content of Reading and Communication courses designed through previous research and the responses of the learners and to determine directions for improvement. Specifically designed to link reading-speech-writing, we examined how each communication area was linked and operated in the context of the “text understanding- thought extension- thinking arrangement.” In addition, we conducted a questionnaire survey on the subject with the learners and examined their responses. Through this process, the increase in the number of students in the classroom, the burden of the students tasks and exercises, and the choice of biased text were revealed. To solve the problems revealed through this research, we attempted to implement the following measures. First, the present writing center was extended to become a communication center, and a system was established so that speaking and reading consultations can be completed. Second, we encouraged the discussion of various teaching methods by creating and sharing class materials using workshops. In addition, we conducted an online questionnaire and reviewed the responses of the learners each semester, and determined ways to supplement and improve the courses. Third, when textbooks are written, some less favorable texts among the science and arts fields are replaced with other texts, and problems related to the learner’s interests or areas of life and mutual text are utilized while they are timely.
