명리상담가들을 통해 바라본 명리학(命理學)의 ‘한국적 단기상담’ 가능성 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 명리상담경험을 통해 명리상담가 5인이 말하는 명리학적 견해를 살펴 한국인의 특성에 맞는 ‘한국적 단기상담’의 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 명리상담에서는 기존 서양상담에서 ‘저항’에 대한 문제를 해결하고 ‘내담자가 오늘 여기에 왜 왔을까?’에 대한 답을 줄 수 있다. 명리사주분석은 내담자의 태어난 생 · 년 · 월 · 일 · 시를 바탕으로 용신(用神)과 격국(格局), 육친론(六親論), 대운(大運)과 세운(歲運), 그리고 십이운성(十二運星)과 십이신살(十二神殺)이라는 명리이론을 통해 내담자의 가족관계, 성격성향과 처해진 환경 등 내담자가 처한 삶의 방향성과 운명의 희비(喜悲)를 알아 초기상담의 많은 자료를 확보할 수 있기 때문이다. 명리상담은 서양상담과는 달리 상담을 위한 ‘핵심 던지기’, ‘직언직설(直言直設)을 통한 저항줄이기’, ‘직면을 통한 공감적 이해’, ‘물상론적(物像論的) 들여다보기’와 같은 상담기술을 통해 저항 없이 상담으로 들어가 “여기서부터 문제를 이야기 합시다.” 라는 단기 상담을 가능하게 하는 핵심요소가 있다. 이러한 명리상담의 특징을 중심으로 명리상담자들의 실제 경험을 통해 단기상담에 응용 가능한 아이디어를 살펴보고자 하였다. 또한 연구를 통해 저항이 많거나 감정표현이 어눌하고 무속과 샤머니즘 등 한국적 집단 무의식(collective unconsciousness)을 가지고 있는 일부 내담자들을 위한 새로운 통합 절충적 상담의 대안으로서 한국 내담자 특성을 반영한 ‘한국적 단기상담’ 의 접근방법을 모색하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

In this study, the possibility of short-term counseling in Korea is explored by utilizing the experience of Meoungri counselors. Most Western counselors are generally worried about “resistance” from their clients. In contrast, Meoungri-saju counselors can answer several questions for their clients?for example, the reason for a client’s visit without even knowing them. Moreover, on the basis of a client’s birth details (year, month, date, and time), they can reveal a lot information about the client, such as the nature of the client’s relationship with his/her family and his/her tendency toward discipline. For doing this, they employ Meoungrihak principles such as Yongsin, Gyuguk, Deawoon, and Saewoon. An initial Meoungri counseling session can reveal a lot of relevant information about a client. In contrast to Western counseling, short-term Meoungri counseling is based on some specific and effective technical methods. A few examples are “talking about the problem by being in the present,” “confronting critical issues directly,” “understanding issues through empathy and confrontation,” “overcoming a client’s resistance through confrontation,” and “picture drawing from secret Meoungrihak principles such as materialistic looking.” Meoungri counseling techniques can effectively overcome the resistance from clients, consequently saving them time and money. In this study, we examined the key elements of Meoungri counseling. On the basis of our observations, we developed a new concept for short-term counseling in Korea to suit the characteristics of both Eastern and Western clients. This new counseling method may provide an alternative and compulsory counseling service for clients who have a high level of resistance or who lack emotional expressiveness. Moreover, this counseling method reflects the collective unconsciousness of the Korean society, similar to shamanism.
