초등 체육 수업에 대한 지배 담론으로서 게임 중심 수업

국문 초록

싱가포르의 각급 초등학교에서는 싱가포르 교육부에서 배포된 국가 수준 체육과 교육과정에 기초하여 체육 수업이 진행되고 있다. 싱가포르의 초등 체육 수업에 대한 지배 담론은 게임 중심 수업이다. 싱가포르 교육부는 2002년 이후 초등 체육 수업을 신체 단련이 강조되었던 전통적 체육 수업에서 좀 더 체계적인 교육학적 요소들이 포함된 게임 중심 수업으로 전환해왔기 때문이다. 이 연구는 초등 체육 수업에 대한 지배 담론으로서 게임 중심 수업의 형성을 가능하게 한 조건들의 체계를 드러내는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구는 2016년 5월 23일부터 2017년 12월 20일까지 문헌 자료를 통해 자료를 수집했으며, 문헌 분석의 절차에 기초하여 자료를 분류하였고, 분류된 자료들은 푸코의 고고학적 분석을 실시하였다. 푸코는 그의 책 지식의 고고학에서 어떤한 담론이 형성되면 그것들의 형성에 기여하는 보이지 않는 조건들의 체계가 존재한다고 강조하였다. 고고학적 분석은 무슨 조건에서 어떤 담론이 발생했는지에 대한 구조를 파악하는데 유용하다. 그것은 주체의 지위, 제도적 정위, 그리고 사회적 상황과 같이 분명한 세 가지 요소를 통해 파악된다. 이 연구에서 주체의 지위는 담론의 발화자로서 합법적 자격을 부여 받은 초등학생들이라는 신분이고, 제도적 장소는 담론이 생산되는 곳으로서 초등학교이며, 사회적 상황은 초등학생들이 국가의 지속적인 발전을 위해 매우 중요한 세대로서 위치되어 있는 상태를 보여준다.

영문 초록

Singapore primary schools conduct their PE classes based on the Physical Education(PE) syllabus which is guided by the Ministry of Education(MOE) in Singapore. The Games Concept Approach(GCA) is at the centre of discourse of Singapore primary school PE. Since 2002, MOE has put a large amount of efforts to shift the primary school PE from a traditional and physical-training focused approach to the GCA which has more structured pedagogical elements. This study aims to disclose possible conditions to the formation of the GCA as a dominant discourse. Data was collected through the documents from May 23, 2016 to December 20, 2017 and categorised based on the document analysis procedures. An archaeological analysis approach was employed to analyse the classified data. Foucault emphasises in his book “The Archaeology of Knowledge and the Discourse on Language” that there is a system of possible conditions that contributes to formation of discourse in order for discourse to be formed. The archaeological analysis approach is useful to understand the structure of possible conditions to discourse. It can be found based on the three distinct elements: the status of subject, the institutional site and the social situation. This study shows that the status of subject in this study is the primary school students who are qualified as a speaker of discourse; the institutional site is the primary school where the discourse gets created; the social situation is that primary school students are deemed a future generation for the substantial development of the country.
