국가수준 학업성취도 평가의 중학교 과학 문항에 나타난 과학의 본성 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 국가수준 학업성취도 평가의 중학교 과학 문항에 나타난 과학의 본성을 분석하였다. 과학의 본성을 ‘Ⅰ. 과학 지식의 본성’, ‘Ⅱ. 과학적 탐구의 본성’, ‘Ⅲ. 과학적 사고의 본성’, ‘Ⅳ. 과학과 기술 및 사회의 관계적 본성’의 4가지 범주와 19개의 하위 요소로 분류한 이영희(2013)의 분석 기준을 사용하였다. 2017년 상반기 까지 공개된 자료를 바탕으로 2010년부터 2015년까지 6년간 시행된 국가수준 학업 성취도 평가의 중학교 과학 문항 240개를 분석 대상으로 하였고, 중복 포함을 고려하여 424개의 과학의 본성 요소를 추출하여 분석하였다. 전체 문항에 나타난 과학의 본성은 범주I을 포함한 문항이 25.5%, 범주Ⅱ는 64.4%, 범주III은 5.4%, 범주 IV는 4.7%로 범주 I과 범주II에 편중되어 나타났다. 각 문항의 과학 내용 영역과 문항 유형에 따라 범주별 비율이 다르게 나타났다. 연도별로 보면 2010년에는 범주I과 II를 포함한 문항만 출제되었으나, 2012년부터 범주Ⅲ과 Ⅳ의 문항이 출제되었다. 문항 분류에 따른 문항의 정답률은 범주IV를 포함한 문항이 가장 높고 범주Ⅲ을 포함한 문항이 가장 낮게 나타났으며, 문항이 포함하고 있는 과학 본성의 요소 수가 많을수록 정답률은 대체로 낮게 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the nature of science reflected on the middle school science of the National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) from 2010 to 2015. The nature of science was categorized by four themes, ‘Ⅰ. Nature of scientific knowledge’, ‘Ⅱ. Nature of scientific investigation’, ‘Ⅲ. Nature of scientific thinking’, and ‘Ⅳ. Nature of interaction among science, technology, and society’ by Lee(2013). 424 elements of the nature of science were extracted from 240 NAEA questions. In all 240 questions, Theme II consists of 64.4% followed by Theme Ⅰ 25.5%, Theme Ⅲ 5.4%, and Theme Ⅳ 4.7%. Four themes of the nature of science are reflected unevenly. According to the scientific field analysis, the proportions of the four themes vary with each scientific field. As an analysis by the question type, supply questions shows higher proportions in Theme Ⅲ than the multiple-choice questions. And the analysis by the questioning year shows that questions includes Theme Ⅲ and Theme Ⅳ since 2012. Proportions of the questions reflecting Theme Ⅳ was increased to more than doubled in 2015. As a result of confirming the correct rate for each of the four themes, the correct rate of the questions including Theme Ⅳ was the highest and Theme Ⅲ mainly composed of questions requiring logical thinking and creativity was the lowest. In addition, the questions including two or more themes showed lower correct rate.
