오쿤의 법칙에 의한 한국의 경제성장과 실업률의 관계 분석: 차분 및 수정모형을 중심으로

국문 초록

국가경제의 운용체계가 고도화되고 노동시장의 유연성이 제고됨에 따라 생산과정에서 노동의 역할이 재조명되면서 오쿤의 법칙에 대한 안정성이 활발하게 논의되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 동일한 분석기간에 다양한 분석모형을 적용하여 분석모형 간의 차이를 비교분석하였다. 즉, 차분모형과 다양한 형태의 수정모형을 바탕으로 우리나라의 경제성장률과 실업률 간의 안정적인 경제적 관계를 오쿤의 법칙으로 규명하였는데 계량분석기법으로는 최우추정법을 활용하였다. 실증분석 결과에 의하면 전형적인 차분모형에서 오쿤의 법칙이 성립하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 다양한 형태의 동태모형에서도 오쿤의 법칙이 성립하는 것을 확인하였다. 이뿐만 아니라 우리나라에서 경제성장률과 실업률의 경제적 관계는 장기적인 것보다 단기적인 경로에 의해 더욱 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 분석되었다. 우리나라의 경우 오쿤의 법칙이 성립함에 따라 경제성장을 통해 실업을 해소할 수 있는 가능성은 있지만 그 정도가 강하지 않기 때문에 경제구조의 변화에 따라 실업이 더 이상 소득의 변화에만 의존하지 않는다는 것을 인식해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is attempted to perform comparative analysis for Okun’s law by inducing various type of models for same period of data set due to the fact that economic system has been enhanced since last several decades. Such transition resulted in the increases of flexibility in labor market. It followed by the roll of labor in the process of production has been alternated on a large scale. Therefore, Okun’s law has to be re-evaluated to see if its stability is still valid. Differenced and modified models are developed for this purpose, and maximum likelihood estimator procedure is employed for empirical analysis. Empirical evidence revealed that Okun’s law is supported not only by the differenced model, but also by dynamic models. These results signify that there still exists a relationship between economic growth and unemployment in Korea. Such influential impact is more effective in the short run rather than in the long run. Since Okun’s law is verified, the unemployment could be controlled by the manipulation of the level of income. However, it also has to be mentioned that other factors which influence on the unemployment has to received more concern to fit with the enhanced economic system.
