국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 어머니의 행복감의 군집유형에 따른 유아의 공감능력과 배려행동의 차이에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 2021년 10월부터 11월까지 서울, 경기 지역에 거주하는 만4~5세 유아를 둔 어머니 370명을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 위계적 군집분석과 K-means 군집분석 방법을 통하여 군집유형을 도출하고, 일원배치분산분석을 실시하여 분석하였다. 결과 첫째, 어머니의 행복감의 하위요인에 따라 ‘행복감 상위집단’, ‘자율성 상위집단’, ‘개인적성장 상위집단’, ‘행복감 하위집단’의 총 4개의 행복감 유형이 확인되었다. 둘째, 어머니의 행복감 집단 유형 중 ‘행복감 상위집단’과 ‘자율성 상위집단’ 자녀들이 다른 집단의 자녀들보다 공감능력이 높고 배려행동을 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 ‘개인적 성장 상위’ 집단 어머니의 유아는 공감능력과 배려행동에 있어 다른 어머니 집단의 자녀들에 비해 높지 않았다. 결론 유아의 공감능력과 배려행동의 발달을 위해 양육자인 어머니의 행복감이 중요하며 어머니의 행복을 증진시킬 수 있는 접근이 필요하다는 점을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to examine the differences in empathy ability and caring behavior of children across the cluster type of mother's happiness. Methods A survey was conducted on 370 mothers with children aged 4 to 5 living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, from October to November 2021. Based on the collected data, cluster types were derived through hierarchical cluster analysis and K-means cluster analysis methods, and the analysis was performed by one-way ANOVA. The main research findings are as follows. Results First, four types of happiness were identified: ‘a group for higher happiness’, ‘a group for higher autonomy’, ‘a group for higher personal growth’, and ‘a group for lower happiness’. Second, the children of mothers from the ‘higher happiness group’ and ‘higher autonomy group’ showed higher empathy and caring behavior than those of mothers from the other groups. Lastly, children of mothers of the ‘higher personal growth’ group were not higher in empathy and caring behavior than those of other mother groups. Conclusions The study results imply that the mother's happiness as a caregiver is important for the development of children's empathy and caring behavior, and that an social and policy approach that can enhance mother's happiness is needed for better children’s empathy and caring behavior. This study is to understand the relationship between parent-child finteraction, child's self-regulation, and child's caring behavior in the early childhood.
