상황학습 이론에 기반한 대학 신임교원 교수개발 프레임워크 설계

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 상황학습 이론에 기반하여 신임교원을 위한 교수개발 프레임워크를 설계하는 것이다. 방법 이를 위해 문헌연구 및 면담 기록 분석을 연구방법으로 활용하였다. 상황학습 이론을 다룬 국내 문헌 22편, 해외 문헌 15편을 바탕으로 문헌연구를 진행하여 상황학습 이론의 구성요소, 상황학습 이론 기반의 프레임워크 설계를 위한 설계원리를 제시하였다. 이후 4년제 3개 대학의 신임교원 5명의 면담 기록을 수집하여 신임교원의 교수 경험을 분석하고, 상황학습 이론에 대한 문헌연구 결과와 통합하여 교수개발 프레임워크를 설계하였다. 결과 신임교원 교수 경험 분석을 통해 교수되기, 교수하기, 교수 배우기 등 세 가지 범주가 도출되었다. 이후 상황학습 이론의 문헌연구 결과와 연결하여 설계 방향과 설계원리를 제시하였다. 설계 방향은 ‘좋은’ 교수자로서 정체성 획득, 좋은 수업을 위한 교수학습 지식/기술의 전유, 문화적 실천 등이었다. 설계원리는 수업 맥락 인지, 교수활동에 대한 성찰과 개선, 강의우수교수 수업 관찰, 자기 수업에 대한 객관적 분석, 주체로서 교수학습 도구/방법의 인식, 다양한 교수학습 도구/방법 활용, 직접적 실천을 통한 학습, 규칙으로부터의 구속과 자유, 능동적 참여, 지속적 참여, 발표와 토론, 다양한 존재와의 협력 등이었다. 결론 본 연구는 세 가지 논의점을 제시한다. 첫째, 대학교원의 교수개발을 위한 새로운 시도가 요구되며, 이를 위해 상황학습 이론이 고려될 수 있다. 둘째, 변화된 대학 신임교원의 상황을 반영한 신임교원 프로그램이 개발되어야 한다. 셋째, 교수개발 프로그램을 운영하는 장소로서 물리적 공간을 넘어 가상공간으로의 확장이 요구된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purposes of this study were to design a framework for teaching competency development for new faculty members in college based on situated learning theory. Methods Literature review and interview were used as research methods. We reviewed 22 domestic and 15 overseas literatures on situated learning theory, and as a result, we derived the components of situated learning theory and the design principles for designing a framework based on situated learning theory. After that, we conducted interviews with five new faculty from three universities and analyzed the records to investigate the teaching experience of the them. Finally, a framework for teaching competency development for new professors was designed by integrating the results of literature review and interviews. Results We categorized the experience of teaching into three categories: becoming a professor, doing teaching, and learning teaching as a results of interview. Design orientation and design principles of framework integrating interview results and literature reviews were presented as follows. First, the orientations of designing framework were to acquire identity as a ‘good’ professor, possess pedagogical knowledge and skills for good classes, and cultural practice. The design principles of framework for teaching competency development included recognition of class context, reflection and improvement of teaching, observation of excellent professor’s teaching, objective analysis of his/her own teaching, recognition of teaching and learning tools/methods as a subject, use of various teaching and learning tools/methods, learning through direct practice, restraint and freedom from rules, active participation, continued participation, presentation and discussion, collaboration with various people. Conclusions This study presents three conclusions. First, it is necessary to attempt changes for the teaching development of new faculty, and situated learning theory can be considered as a theoretical basis. Second, a new faculty program that reflects the changed situation of colleges is needed to develop. Third, it is necessary to expand beyond physical space to virtual space in order to implement a teaching competency development program more effectively.
