유아교사의 시민의식과 교육공동체 구현 실천행동이 민주시민교육 실행도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 교육현장에서 민주시민교육의 필요성이 강조되는 시점에 민주시민교육을 실행하는 데 있어 유아교사의 시민의식과 교육공동체 구현 실천행동이 미치는 영향력을 알아보고자 하였다. 이에 유치원과 어린이집에 근무 중인 유아교사 총 275명을 대상으로 시민의식 척도와 교육공동체 구현 역량 척도, 민주시민교육 실행 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하고 기술통계, 상관분석 및 중다회귀분석을 이용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 유아교사는 시민의식, 첫째, 교육공동체 구현 실천행동과 민주시민교육 실행도를 모두 보통 이상의 수준으로 인식하는 경향이 있었다. 둘재, 유아교사의 시민의식은 교육공동체 구현 실천행동 요인과는 .52~.56, 민주시민교육 실행 요인과는 .33~.42, 그리고 교육공동체 구현 실천행동 요인과 민주시민교육 실행 요인 간에는 .34~.57 범위의 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 셋째, 중다회귀분석 결과, 민주시민교육 실행도에 대한 유아교사의 시민의식과 교육공동체 구현 실천행동 요인의 설명력은 33%이며, 특히 교육공동체 구현 실천행동 요인 중에서 동반자 역할 수행을 위한 심리적 하위 요인이 가장 큰 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 토대로 교사의 민주시민교육 역량 증진을 위해 교사가 갖는 시민의식과 교육공동체를 구현하고자 하는 교사의 실천행동이 중요함을 알게 해주었으며, 구성원 간의 따뜻하고 긍정적인 관계가 강조되는 교육공동체 구축을 지원하는 교사 민주시민교육 및 유아교육기관 컨설팅 프로그램의 개발 방향에 관한 시사점을 제공하였다는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of teachers democratic civic consciousness and actions for building an educational community on implementing democratic citizenship education. To do this, data were collected from 275 early childhood teachers using scales for checking three factors and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are follows. First, teachers tended to perceive three factors at a higher level than normal. Second, the democratic civic consciousness of teachers showed a significant positive correlation with the factor of actions for building an educational community and democratic citizenship education implementation. And, there was a significant positive correlation between the factors of actions for building an educational community and the implementation of democratic citizenship education. Third, as a result of multiple regression analysis, the explanatory power of teachers democratic civic consciousness and actions for building an educational community on the degree of democratic citizenship education implementation was 33%. Particularly, it was found that the psychological sub-factors for the performance of the partner role had the greatest influence among the factors for actions for building an educational community. Based on this, implications were provided on the direction of the development of teacher democratic citizenship education and early childhood education institution consulting programs in order to enhance the teacher s capacity for democratic citizenship education.
