중국인 학습자의 거절 화행에 나타난 화용적 실패 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 중국인 한국어 학습자의 거절 화행에 나타나는 화용적 실패를, 분석 범주별, 인간관계 변인별, 한국어 숙달도별로 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 중국인 한국어 학습자 54명을 대상으로 담화 완성형 테스트(DCT)를 실시하여 972개의 거절 표현을 수집한 후 화용적 실패를 화용언어적 문제 4범주와 사회화용적 문제 1범주로 나누어 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 존대법과 통사적 완화 장치 사용에 나타난 실패율이 다른 범주에 비하여 높았다. 둘째, 나이에 따라 존대법, 통사적 완화 장치, 어휘·구 완화 장치의 사용에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 또 친밀도에 따라 존대법, 어휘·구 완화 장치의 사용에 대하여 화용적 실패율에 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 지위에 따라 통사적 완화 장치, 어휘·구 완화 장치에 대하여 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 초·중·고급 학습자 간의 호칭어, 존대법, 통사적 완화 장치 사용, 어휘 ·구 완화 장치에 대한 실패율의 차이가 유의하게 나타났으며 고급 학습 단계에 올라갈수록 화용적 실패가 점점 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 넷째, 중국인 학습자의 거절 표현에 나타난 화용적 실패는 대부분 화용언어적 문제에 해당하며, 전체 분석 발화 중 사회화용적 실패는 극히 적었다. 이러한 연구 결과에 따라 중국인 학습자의 거절 화행 교수·학습에서는 다음과 같은 점이 지향되어야 한다. 첫째, 한·중 언어적 차이를 비교하여 존대법, 통사적 완화 장치를 적절히 사용할 수 있게 지도하여야 한다. 둘째, 중국인 학습자가 거절 화행을 체계적으로 익힐 수 있도록 숙달도별로 거절의 상황에 따라 교수-학습 내용을 위계적으로 구성하여야 한다. 셋째, 교수-학습에서 학습자에게 대화 상황을 제시할 때 인간관계 변인에 따라 화자와 청자의 관계를 명확하고 다양하게 보여 주어야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the possible failures of Chinese Korean learners in refusal acts, by category, by relationship variables, and by Korean proficiency level. To this end, a discourse completion test (DCT) was conducted including 18 request situations, with age, intimacy, and social status as variables from 54 Chinese learners of Korean language. Through the survey, 972 refusal expressions were collected and analyzed to classify the failures into four categories of pragmalinguistic problem and one sociopragmatic problem. The results were as follows. First, the failure rates in the use of the honorific mood and syntactic relief system were higher than the other categories. Second, as a result of examining the failure rate for human relationship variable, there was a significant difference in the use of the honorific mood, syntactic relief system, and vocabulary/phrase relief system according to age. In addition, there was a significant difference in the failure rate to use honorific mood and the vocabulary/phrase relief system according to the intimacy. Third, there was a significant difference in the failure rate for the address terms, honorific mood, syntactic relief systems, and vocabulary/phrase relief systems among the low, middle, and advanced level learners. Fourth, most of the pragmatic failures in the expression of refusal by Chinese learners corresponded to the pragmalinguistic problem. Based on these results, the following points should be underlined to Chinese learners. First, when teaching and learning refusal expressions to Chinese learners, it is necessary to compare the differences between Korean and Chinese languages so that they can properly use the honorific mood and syntactic relief system. Second, the teaching-learning content should be hierarchically organized according to the proficiency level so that Chinese learners can systematically learn refusal acts. Third, when presenting a dialogue situation to a learner in teaching-learning, the relationship between the speaker and the listener should be clearly and diversely shown with respect to the human relationship variable.
