국문 초록

생태 교육은 지식에 매몰된 교육이 아닌 학생들이 자연을 체험하고 그 과정에서 경이감이라는 마음의 울림을 느낄 때 진정으로 달성될 수 있다. 학교에서 실시되는 생태 교육은 이러한 경험을 학생들에게 보다 용이하게 제공할 수 있기 때문에 학교 교육의 과정 속에서 이루어지는 생태 교육은 학생들의 생태 소양 증진을 위한 필수 요소이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 서울 소재 초등학교 6학년 1개 학급 학생 21명(남 10명, 여 11명)을 대상으로 학교 텃밭을 조성하여 텃밭 가꾸기 프로그램이 학생들의 생태 소양인 생태 지식, 생태 감수성, 생태중심적 태도·실천에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 텃밭 가꾸기 활동은 학생들의 생태 중심적 태도·실천 및 생태 감수성에 유의미한 영향을 주었음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 학생들의 생태 감수성과 생태중심적 태도·실천 간에는 상관이 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 학생들은 텃밭 가꾸기 프로그램을 통해 보람과 즐거움, 생물에 대한 책임감, 환경에 대한 관심과 사랑을 느꼈다고 이야기하였다. 이를 통해 텃밭 가꾸기 활동은 학생들의 다양한 생태 체험을 가능하게 했으며, 그 과정에서 생태 소양 증진에 긍정적 영향을 주었음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Ecological education can be truly attained when students experience nature and feel reverence in the process, rather than being buried in knowledge. Ecological education at school can make this experience easier for students. Therefore, ecological education in the process of school education is essential for promoting ecological literacy of students. This study explored the effect of gardening programs on ecological knowledge, ecological sensitivity, and ecological attitudes of students by constructing school gardens for ecological education for 21 students(10 boys and 11 girls) in 1 class of 6th grade elementary school in Seoul. As a result, first, it was found that gardening activities had a significant effect on students ecological attitude and ecological sensitivity. Second, there was a high correlation between students ecological sensitivity and ecological attitudes. Finally, the students said they felt rewarding and enjoyable, responsible for living things, caring for the environment, and loving through the gardening program. Through this, gardening activities enabled students to experience various ecological experiences, and in the process, it was found that they had a positive influence on promoting ecological literacy.
