국문 초록

본 연구에서는 대학생들의 내면화된 수치심과 경험회피의 관계에서 정신화와 고통감내력의 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 전국의 대학생 425명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 총 420명의 자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0과 Process Macro를 이용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내면화된 수치심, 경험회피, 정신화, 고통감내력은 모두 통계적으로 유의한 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 정신화는 대학생의 내면화된 수치심과 경험회피의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 고통감내력은 대학생의 내면화된 수치심과 경험회피의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 대학생의 내면화된 수치심과 경험회피의 관계를 정신화와 고통감내력이 순차적으로 매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 대학생의 내면화된 수치심이 경험회피로 이어지는 구체적인 심리적 기제를 확인한 것으로 기존의 선행연구를 확장하였으며, 내면화된 수치심의 문제로 인해 경험회피를 대처방식으로 사용하는 대학생을 상담할 경우 정신화와 고통감내력을 높이기 위한 개입이 필요함을 시사해주고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediation effects of mentalization and distress tolerance in the relationship between internalized shame and experiential avoidance. For this, the survey was conducted on 425 college students across the country and a total of 420 data were used for analysis. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and Process Macro. The main results of this study are as follows. First, there were statistically significant correlations between internalized shame, experential avoidance, mentalization, and distress tolerance. Second, mentalization mediated the relationship between internalized shame and experiential avoidance of college students. Third, distress tolerance mediated the relationship between internalized shame experiential avoidance. Fourth, the relationship between internalized shame and experiential avoidance was found to be mediated sequentially by mentalization and distress tolerance. The results of this showed the specific psychological mechanism through which internalized shame leads to experiential avoidance, thus extending previous research. They also suggest the need for intervention to increase mentalization and distress tolerance when counseling college students who use experiential avoidance as a coping method due to internalized shame.
