보육교사의 인성에 대한 현직 원장들의 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 어린이집 원장의 인식을 통해 현장에서 요구되는 보육교사의 인성적 자질에 대한 요구와 인성적 자질의 맥락적 의미를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하며, 이를 위해 다양한 유형의 어린이집에서 근무하고 있는 현직 원장 8명을 대상으로 2015 년 6월 4주부터 8월 1주까지 총 7주에 걸쳐 실시한 개별 심층면담과 2016년 1월, 2회의 집단면담을 통해 도출한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 원장들은 교사의 전문적 자질이 필요하지만, 전문적 자질을 현장에 유익한 형태로 실행하기 위해서는 인성적 자질이 선행되어야 한다고 말한다. 둘째, 원장들은 관리자로서 사회관계와 직무수행과 관련된 인성적 자질을 상대적으로 더 강조하고 있다. 셋째, 보육교사에게 요구되는 인성적 자질의 맥락적 의미는 ① 인간애-영유아의 눈높이를 맞추는 공 평한 사랑, 영유아에 대한 민감성과 관심, 다양성을 인정할 수 있는 인간에 대한 긍정성, ② 긍정적 자아개념- 부드러움과 미소와 감정조절과 같은 정서적 안정, 교사로서 자신에 대한 자각과 성찰로 나타나는 자기이해, 영유아의 문제가 아니라 교사 자 신의 문제로 귀인하는 자기반성, 영유아를 위한 변화와 배움의 자세로서 자기개발, ③ 사회관계-자기표현과 도움 구하기를 중심으로 하는 소통, ‘나부터’를 탈피한 자기희생, 하나가 잘되기보다 모두가 잘 하는 것이 중요한 공동체 의식, 수용과 도움으 로 나타나는 협동, ④ 직무수행-몸을 사리지 않고 ‘내 일처럼’ 하는 책임감, ‘일단 해보겠다’는 적극성, 소리 없이 부지런하게, 그러면서도 민첩한 성실성, ⑤ 창의·인성-위기상황에서의 순발력과 융통성을 의미하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the qualifications of personality for early childhood teachers that is required in the field of child care centers through the recognition of the directors. First, the directors need the professional qualities of the teacher, but recognize that the personal qualities are more important. Because in order to carry out professional qualities in a beneficial form on the site, personal qualities must be preceded. Second, the directors, as managers, place greater emphasis on the personality which is related to social relations and job performance. Third, the contextual meaning of the personality required for child care teachers is: ① Human love: equitable love that meets the infant s eye level, sensitivity to and concern for infants, and positiveness for human beings who can recognize diversity. ② Positive self-concept: Emotional stability, such as tenderness and smile and emotion control, self-understanding represented by self-awareness as a teacher, self-reflection that is not a problem of infants, but a teacher s own problem, self-development as change and learning for infants, ③ Social relations: communication centered on self-disclosure and seeking help, self-sacrificing beyond ‘for me’, partnership that emerges as an important sense of community, acceptance and help, that everyone is doing better than one, ④ Job performance: Responsibility to do everything ‘as my work’, activeness to try it once, diligence to do work silently and agile, ⑤ Creativity and humanity: quickness and flexibility in a crisis.
