베트남인 한국어 학습자의 읽기 불안 연구: 초·중급을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 베트남인 한국어 학습자의 읽기 불안 양상에 대한 것이다. 부산의 B 대학교에 재학 중인 베트남인 한국어 학습자 68명을 대상으로 2019년 6월 3일부터 7일까지 외국어읽기불안척도(FLRAS)를 활용한 설문 조사를 실시한 후, SPSS 25.0을 통해 분석하였다. 먼저 20개 문항에 대한 평균과 표준편차를 통해, ‘한국어로 된 글을 읽을 때 글 전체의 의미를 내가 정확히 파악하고 있다는 확신이 안 들면 마음이 불편하다’란 문항에서 가장 높은 불안을 가지고 있었다. 또한 요인분석을 통해 5개의 하위 요인을 도출하였고, 요인 4에 해당하는 ‘주제 및 배경지식 관련 불안’에 높은 불안을 나타냈다. 마지막으로 독립표본 t검정을 통해 대부분의 요인에서 초급, 남성 학습자가 높은 불안을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 한편 국내 외국인 유학생 중 두 번째로 높은 비율을 차지하고 있는 베트남인 유학생들의 현황에 비해 이들에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 특히 베트남인 한국어 학습자의 정의적인 영역 중 읽기 불안에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다는 점에서 본고가 한국어 교육 현장에서 유 용하게 활용될 수 있길 기대해 본다.

영문 초록

This study is about the reading anxiety of Vietnamese learners of Korean. A survey using FLRAS (Foreign Language Reading Anxiety Scale) was conducted on 68 Vietnamese learners of Korean who are attending B University in Busan and the data was analyzed using SPSS 25.0. First, the mean and standard deviation of the twenty questions showed that Vietnamese learners had the highest anxiety on the item “I feel uncomfortable when I m not sure that I understand the meaning of the entire text when I read it in Korean.” In addition, five dimensions of Korean Language Reading Anxiety of Vietnamese learners were derived from factor analysis. The degree of anxiety was determined by means and standard deviation, and it was shown that there was a high degree of anxiety on “Anxiety related to subject and background knowledge” corresponding to dimension 4. Furthermore, the correlation between the five factors and overall anxiety was analyzed through correlation analysis. Finally, the independent sample t-test was conducted to test whether there were statistically significant differences between learners level of Korean language and their level of anxiety depending on their gender. Meanwhile, Vietnamese students account for the second-highest percentage of foreign students in the country, but research on them is insufficient. Anxiety has an important effect on the success and failure of learning a foreign language and is one of the affective domains in learning a foreign language. However, only a few studies have been done on Vietnamese people. We hope that the results of this study will be useful in the field of Korean language education.
