국문 초록

본 연구는 초임영유아교사가 교직생활 중 경험하는 어려움과 지원이 필요한 사항에 대해 알아보고 성공적인 교사생활을 지속할 수 있도록 지원할 수 있는 방안을 모색해 보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2018년 9월 8일부터 12월 1일까지 경력 1년 미만의 초임영유아교사 16명을 대상으로 조별 이야기나누기, 전체 토의, 반성적 저널 등을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구결과, 초임영유아교사들은 문제행동 유아에 대한 지도와 수업에 있어서 이론과 실제의 차이에 대해 고민하고 있었고, 동료교사 와 원장과의 관계에서 어려움을 나타냈다. 또한, 다양한 학부모와의 소통에 큰 부담을 갖고 있었고, 낮은 급여와 과중한 업무, 열악한 환경, 외부의 부정적 시선 등으로 인해 이직에 대한 고민을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 초임영유아교사들은 교사 대 유아의 비율 감소, 급여 및 복지 수준의 향상 등을 원하고 있었다. 결론적으로, 초임영유아교사들의 성공적인 교직생활 안착을 위해서는 교사 대 아동비율의 조정, 낮은 급여와 복지에 대한 개선, 초임교사를 위한 연수 및 공동체 프로그램 개발 과 같은 행․재정적 지원과 함께 기관의 풍토 변화와 학부모의 인식 개선과 같은 다양한 노력이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine the difficulties that newly appointed early childhood teachers experience in teaching life and supports that they need, and seek for solution to support them to maintain successful teaching life. For this, data was collected from 18 newly appointed early childhood teachers with less than 2 years of experience through group discussion, general discussion and reflective journal from September 8, 2018 to December 1, 2018. As a result, newly appointed early childhood teachers were concerned about the difference between theory and reality in terms of guidance and teaching of children with behavior problems, and expressed difficulty in the relationship with colleagues and director of institution. Also, they were heavily burdened with the communication with various parents, and were considering turnover due to low wage and excessive work, poor environment, and negative outside attention. In addition, newly appointed early childhood teachers were requesting a decreased ratio between teacher and children, improvement in wage and welfare, etc. In conclusion, for a successful settle-down of newly appointed early childhood teachers, administrative and financial support including adjustment of teacher-child ratio, improvement in low wage and welfare, and training and community programs for newly appointed teachers, in addition to various other efforts such as changes in the institution’s atmosphere and improvement in parents’ recognition are required.
