국내 중등 융합인재교육(STEAM) 프로그램 연구 동향

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 중등 STEAM 프로그램을 실행한 연구들의 최근 연구 동향을 분석하고, 향후 중등 STEAM 프로그램 연구 및 실천에 시사점을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 2011년부터 2019년 6월까지 중·고등학교 맥락에서 STEAM 프 로그램을 실행하고 효과를 분석한 국내 학술지 논문 54편을 대상으로 연구동향을 분석하였고 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 중등 STEAM 연구는 2013년부터 급격히 증가하기 시작하였으며 2017년에 가장 많은 연구가 수행된 것으로 나타났다. 둘 째, 고등학교보다 중학교에서 많은 STEAM 연구가 수행되었으며, 각 학교급별로 학년이 낮아질수록 더 많은 연구가 수행되었다. 셋째, 중등 STEAM 연구는 교과시간에 가장 많이 실시되었다. 넷째, 중등 STEAM 연구는 특정 교과를 중심으로 다른 학을 배치하는 다학문적 통합 방식을 적용한 연구가 가장 높은 비율로 나타났고, 중심교과로는 과학 교과가 가장 많았으며, 통합은 주로 문제와 주제 중심으로 이루어졌다. 다섯째, 연구방법은 양적연구 중심으로 이루어졌다. 여섯째, 국내 중등 STEAM 교육의 효과성 변인으로는 과학 교과에 대한 태도 변화를 살펴본 연구의 비중이 가장 높게 나타났다. 본 연구는 중등학교 현장에서의 STEAM 교육의 실행에 대한 연구를 분석함으로써 STEAM 교육 설계 및 실천에 기초자료로서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends of studies conducted to apply STEAM program to secondary schools in South Korea and to provide implications for future studies. In this study, 54 articles published from 2011 to June 2019 in South Korea were analyzed. The results are as follows: First, the number of articles has increased rapidly since 2013, and most studies were conducted in 2017. Second, more STEAM research was conducted in middle school than in high school, and the lower the grade level, the more research was conducted in both of the school settings. Third, most research was carried out in curricular program. Fourth, STEAM research in secondary schools in Korea showed the highest rate of applying the multidisciplinary integration method, which centered on science subjects. In addition, integration was mainly focused on problems and themes. Fifth, most research was based on quantitative method. Finally, research that investigates the attitude toward science subject was conducted the most in relation to the effect of STEAM education. The results of this study will contribute to the design and implementation of STEAM education for enhancing core competencies of learners in secondary schools.
