국문 초록

이 연구는 논설문에서 중 고등학생들의 내용어와 기능어 사용 양상을 살피는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 중학교 1학년부터 고등학교 3학년 학생들의 학년별 어휘 사용을 바탕으로, 학생 글에 포함된 내용어와 기능어를 마이닝 기법으로 분류·추출하 여 이에 대한 결과값을 학년별로 나누어 제시한 후, 학년 간 차이를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 고학년 글일수록 글 전체 어휘 수와 한 문장 내 어휘 수가 많았다. 또한, 학생 글의 내용어를 통해 학년의 변화에 따라 감정 단어 사용이 현저히 줄어들고 가치 판단 서술어 사용이 증가하는 등 논증 텍스트로서의 면모를 갖추게 됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 기능어에서는 일정 학년을 기점으로 1인칭 대명사 ‘나’의 사용이 줄었으며, 다양한 접속 부사를 문종에 적합하게 사용하려는 모습을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이 연구 에서는 논설문 쓰기에서 학생들은 내용어뿐만 아니라 기능어 측면에서도 학년에 따른 발달을 경험하고 있으며, 각각의 항목에 따라 도약적 시기가 상이함을 객관적 지표로 도출해 낼 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate the usage patterns of content and function words in academic essays written by middle school and high school students. A mining technique was used to extract and classify content and function words in students’ writings on the basis of the vocabulary words for each grade level. The results were examined per grade level; inter-grade differences were also analyzed. The results revealed that, as the grade level increased, the number of vocabulary words per essay and per sentence also increased. The content word analysis showed that, as the grade level increased, the essays were increasingly shaped into argument texts, with greatly decreased use of emotion words and increased use of words of value judgment description. Regarding function words, the use of I decreased, and a variety of conjunctive adverbs began to be appropriately utilized in sentences from a certain grade level. The study demonstrated that students experienced development in academic essay writing according to their grade levels in terms of content and function words, and it was derived through objective indicators that students showed different periods of explosive development per item.
