Text network analysis of the Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국가수준 유치원 교육과정 문서의 텍스트 네트워크 분석을 통하여 놀이와 관련된 용어가 시기별로 어떠한 특징을 가지는지 역사적 변천을 알아보는 데 있다. 연구를 수행하기 위하여 제 1차 유치원교육과정부터 3-5세 연령별 누리과정까지 문서를 대상으로 내용 분석을 실시하여 ‘놀이’와 관련된 단어를 추출하였다. 추출된 문장을 대상으로 단어 행렬화 작업을 하고, 네트워크 핵심 개념에 따라 분석하였다. UCINET 프로그램, Pajek 프로그램, Netdraw 프로그램 등을 통하여 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 연구를 수행한 결과, 국가수준 유치원 교육과정의 각 시기별로 놀이를 중심으로 강조하는 내용이 시대 에 따라 달라졌음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 놀이 관련어의 분포와 구조 측면에서 현재 시행 중인 3-5세 연령별 누리과정이 가장 비체계적으로 나타났으며 극놀이, 예술 및 표현, 활동 부분에 편중되어 나타났다. 따라서 놀이를 비롯한 유아교육의 핵심 개념 정의가 명확히 제시될 필요가 있다. 그동안 정치적인 이유에 의해 개정되었거나 개정 시기가 임박하여 급하게 개정된 체제를 반성하고 유아교육과정의 핵심 개념에 대해 심도 있는 논의가 필요하다. 교육과정을 개정할 때 과거의 내용 중에 지속해야 할 것이 무엇인지, 새로 도입해야 하는 내용이 무엇인지 철학적, 역사적, 사회문화적 맥락에 따른 연구가 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed documents concerning the Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum (NKC) throughout its history, from 1969, when it was first established, to its present (eighth) version. The analysis was processed within the order of data cleaning, co-occurrence matrix and network analysis based on the sentences related to ‘play’ in NKC documents. The results of this analysis varies on the words related to play in each period. After analyzing the historical changes in the distribution and structure of play-related keywords in the NKC documents, the text network of the eighth curriculum was found to be the most heavily slanted, focusing on only small areas compared to the earlier curricula. In terms of an unbalanced description of play, the eighth curriculum was followed in decreasing order by the seventh, especially in its focus mainly on dramatic play and activity in its documents. As the number of revisions increased, the scope of the term dramatic play became narrower, covering simply art and expression. This trend indicates that, unlike past practices, ahistoricism should be avoided when the next NKC is developed. Based on these results, the basic research and field study must be carried out and philosophical, historical, and critical studies should be reviewed so that the points of dispute be resolved prior to future revisions of the NKC.
