보육교사와 영유아 학부모가 기대하는 보육교사 전문성에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 보육의 질적 향상을 위해 보육교사 전문성의 의미를 개념화하여 교사가 지향해야 할 방향과 준거를 탐구하는데 있다. 이를 위해 보육교사 185명과 어린이집에 재원 중인 자녀를 둔 부모 144명을 대상으로 ‘보육교사로서 전문성이 있다’ 라는 평가를 받기 위해 어떤 요소를 갖추어야 하는지 기술하고 그와 관련된 사례를 수집하였다. 참여자 선정에서 자료수집까지 총 3개월의 시간이 소요되었으며 수집된 자료는 Nvivo 12와 SPSS 24.0을 이용해 내용분석법의 절차에 따라 질적, 양적 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 총 517개의 노드가 도출되었고 이는 24개의 소주제와 6개의 대주제(전문직으로 인식하고 전문인으로 자각, 업무에 대해 갖는 태도, 필요한 지식과 기술을 이용하여 의사결정, 기관과 교실 운영, 보육에 관한 전문이론과 지식보유, 사회적 인정과 사회봉사성)로 분류되었다. 분류된 소주제와 대주제는 연구대상(교사,부모), 교사의 경력, 자녀의 연령에 따라 빈도 차이가 있었다. 본 연구는 교사와 부모, 즉 주체자와 수요자 입장에서 보육교사 전문성의 의미를 탐구한 데 의의가 있다. 이를 통해 전문성 있는 교사로 성장하기 위한 자질을 점검하고 이를 함양하기 위한 교사교육 및 정책수립에 도움이 되길 기대한다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to explore the direction and standard that should be aimed by teachers, by conceptualizing the meanings of professionalism of childcare teachers for the qualitative improvement of childcare. For this, targeting 185 childcare teachers and 144 parents of children attending daycare centers, the data was collected by asking them to describe which elements should be equipped to be evaluated as ‘a childcare teacher with professionalism’. It took a total of three months from selection participants to data collection. Using the Nvivo 12 and SPSS 24.0 for the collected data, the qualitative/quantitative analysis was conducted in accordance with the procedure of content analytic method. In the results of analysis, total 517 nodes were drawn, and then they were classified into 24 sub-themes and six main themes(perceived as a professional job and realized as an expert, attitude toward work, decision-making ability with the use of necessary knowledge and techniques, ability to operate institutes and classes, equipped with specialized theories and knowledge about childcare, social recognition and service to society). The classified sub-themes and main themes showed differences in the frequency in accordance with research subjects(teachers, parents), teachers’ career experience, and children’s age. The significance of this study is to explore the meanings of professionalism of childcare teachers in the position of teachers and parents as the subjects and consumers. The results of this study could be helpful for the establishment of policies and teachers’ training for inspecting and cultivating the qualifications to be grown into professional teachers.
