영문 초록

The case looks at the possible reasons for the dismal performance of HK Disneyland vis-a-vis the success enjoyed by Ocean Park, Hong Kong's iconic destination for both local and foreign tourists, despite the heavy blow from the 1997 Asian financial crisis and the SARS epidemic. The analysis presented in the case, focuses on the salient characteristics of the Chinese tourists' behavior to explicate the performance of these two theme parks, and also uses the Integration-Responsiveness framework (Prahalad and Doz 1987) to evaluate the success of Disneyland's performance in Hong Kong.
