영문 초록

Purpose of this study is to understand present situation of management of Korean tourists hotels of last 22years, to figure out its problems, and to suggest plan for improvement. This study was conducted on 580 Korean tourist hotels, based on trends of their sales revenue and the number of guests during the 22years; from 1985 to 2006. Data were collected from "Performances of Tourists Hotel Operations", which is annually published by KHA - Korea Hotel Association. Results of the study are as followings. First, supply and demand for hotels are concentrated to 5-star hotels in Seoul, and local tourists hotels are suffering from their low performance. Therefore, those local tourists hotels should be turned into mid - fare hotels and chain system, to be re-vitalized. Second, the level of provided service should be modified to be matched to its price level. To achieve this goal, education and training are needed to improve level of employees. Third, the government should recognize and support tourist hotels. Support proportion to export industries and formation of infrastructure are needed.
