중학생의 학업열의 영향 변인 탐색

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 중학생의 학생수준 요인(성별, 삶의 만족도, 행복감, 자아존중감, 주의집중, 협동의식, 그릿)과 학교수준 요인(학교소재 지역규모, 학교생활 만족도, 교내 동아리 활동, 친구관계, 교사관계)이 학업열의에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 한국아동·청소년패널조사(KCYPS) 2018의 3차년도(2020년) 중학교 3학년 2,329명의 응답을 분석하였다. 다층모형분석을 위해 기초모형과 연구모형을 설정하였으며, 학생수준과 학교수준의 변인을 투입함으로써, 학업열의에 영향을 미치는 독립변인들의 영향력을 분석하였다. 결과 본 연구의 주요결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 중학생의 학업열의를 설명하는 총 분산 중 7.3%가 학교특성의 영향을 받는 것을 나타났다. 둘째, 학생수준의 독립변인의 영향을 살펴보면, 남학생이 여학생보다 높은 학업열의를 나타냈으며, 삶의 만족도, 협동의식, 그릿이 높을수록, 주의집중이 낮을수록 학업열의가 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 학교수준 변인 중에는 친구관계가 학업열의에 부적 영향을 나타낸 반면, 교사관계는 학업열의에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로, 학업열의를 증진시키기 위한 노력의 일환으로 교육과정과 학업분위기 개선에 따른 학생들의 태도 변화에 대한 시사점과 개인적·환경적 요인들 간의 상호보완적 연관성과 관계를 밝히는 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of middle school students' gender, life satisfaction, happiness, self-esteem, attention, cooperation, grit and school location, school life satisfaction, friend relationship, and teacher relationship on academic engagement. Methods For this study, 2,329 responses of the 3rd wave(3rd grade of middle school) of the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) were analyzed. For applying multi-level modeling(two-level) a basic model and a research model were established, and the influence of variables affecting academic engagement was analyzed by inputting variables at the student level and school level. Results First, it was found that 7.3% of the total variance explaining the academic engagement of middle school students was affected by school characteristics. Second, looking at the influence of independent variables at the student-level was male students higher than female students, and the higher life satisfaction, cooperation, and grit, the lower attention, the higher academic engagement. Third, looking ant the influence of school-level variables, it was found that the friend relationship had a negative effect on academic engagement, while the teacher relationship showed a positive effect. Conclusions Based on the results of this study, for promoting academic engagement, implications for changes in students' attitudes by improving in the curriculum and the academic atmosphere and follow-up studies that complementary relationships between personal and environmental factors was suggested.
