국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 읽기에 어려움이 있는 경도 지적장애와 경계선 지적발달 초등학생에게 그림상징을 사용한 낱말 해독 중재를 실시하여 본 중재가 낱말 해독 능력 향상에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 방법 연구 참여자는 낱말 해독에 어려움을 보이는 경도 지적장애와 경계선 지적발달 초등학생 3명으로 하였다. 낱말 해독 중재는 목표 1음절 낱말을 초성과 모음 일치 낱말, 종성 일치 낱말, 음소 구조가 불일치된 완전 변형 낱말, 총 3개의 예와 함께 그림상징으로 제시하여 중재하였고, 사전-사후 낱말 해독 평가를 통해 낱말 해독 능력의 향상을 살펴보았다. 결과 본 연구결과 1음절 낱말 해독 점수가 사전 검사보다 사후 검사에서 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 1음절 낱말의 합성으로 이루어진 2음절 낱말 해독 점수도 사전 검사보다 사후 검사에서 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결론 경도 지적장애와 경계선 지적발달 초등학생에게 1음절 낱말을 그림상징과 함께 명시적으로 지도했을 때, 학습한 1음절 낱말의 해독 능력 뿐만 아니라 1음절 낱말의 합성으로 이루어진 2음절 낱말 해독 능력까지 향상되어 전이될 수 있음을 확인했다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of word decoding intervention using graphic symbols on the improvement of word decoding ability in school-age mild and borderline intellectual disabilities students who have difficulty in reading. Methods The participants were three school-age children with mild and borderline intellectual disabilities showing difficulty in decoding words. The intervention was conducted by presenting a total of three examples of a one-syllable word, a word with a consonant and vowel concordance, a word consonant with a final consonant, and a word with a discordant phonemes with graphic symbols. The improvement of word decoding ability was investigated through pre-post test. Results The result showed that the one-syllable word decoding score was higher in the post-test than in the pre-test, and the two-syllable word decoding score consisting of one-syllable words was also higher in the post-test than in the pre-test. Conclusions When one-syllable words were explicitly taught to students with mild and borderline intellectual disabilities, it showed that it could be transferred to the skills of decoding two-syllable meaningful words consisting of the learned one-syllable words.
