2015 개정 초등영어 교사용 지도서에 나타난 타 교과와의 통합 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 2015 개정 교육과정에 따라 제작된 5, 6학년 지도서에서 제시하고 있는 교과통합 내용을 분석하여 실제 교육 현장에서 교사들이 영어과와 타 교과를 통합하여 수업을 진행하는데 도움을 주고자 한다. 방법 이를 위하여 2015 개정 교육과정에 따라 제작된 초등영어 5, 6학년 지도서를 대상으로 타 교과 연계를 서술한 5종의 모든 지도서를 타 교과 연계 과목 및 빈도, 연계 과목의 주제(소재), 학습 기법에의한 통합, 지도서의 특징으로 나누어 제시된 준거에따라 분석하였다. 결과 이에 따라 5, 6학년 초등영어 지도서에서 타 교과와의 통합은 10가지 과목에서 총 296회로 나타났다. 과목별로 보면 타 교과와 연계가 가장 많이 이루어진 교과는 사회가 66회였으며, 그다음으로 실과가 64회로 다른 교과보다 연계된 횟수가 월등히 높았다. 그 뒤를 이어 도덕이 35회, 국어, 체육이 각각 31회, 미술이 28회로 나타났으며, 과학이 17회, 수학이 13, 음악이 10회, 기타 창체가 1회 연계가 이루어졌다. 주로 많이 활용된 주제나 소재는 사회에 인간 생황에 영향을 미치는 여러 자연적, 인문적 요인이 16회로 가장 많았으며, 그 외 실과의 직업 11회, 직업 탐색 12회가 나왔으며, 체육의 건강한 생활을 위한 운동 및 여가 활동이 14회로 활용도가 높았다. 학습 기법에서는 국어에서 많은 연계가 이루어졌는데, 주로 글쓰기(5회), 작품 이해와 감상 및 소통하기(4회), 토의⋅토론하기(3회) 등이 많이 연계되었다. 미술에서 표현하기나 디자인 등이, 음악에서 음악으로 표현하기, 감상하기 등의 학습 기법이 연계되기도 했다. 수학, 과학 교과와의 연계가 여전히 낮았는데, 이는 내용 언어 통합 학습을 진행하기 위해서 이들 주지 교과의 내용을 영어로 가르치기에는 여전히 부담인 것으로 보인다. 실제 수학 교과의 경우 그림그래프나 막대그래프 등의 그래프 등의 비언어적 소재를 주로 사용하였고, 과학 교과의 경우 별 및 별자리, 계절, 태양계 등의 접근하기 쉬운 소재를 활용하여 언어적 부담을 줄이고자 하였다. 결론 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 실제 교육 현장에서 타 교과와 영어과의 통합 수업이 제대로 이루어질 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 지도서에 자세한 설명과 다양한 자료를 제시할 필요가 있으며, 앞으로의 연구에서는 교과서나 지도서에 명시되어 있지 않더라도 영어과와 타 교과 통합 수업을 진행할 수 있도록 실제적이고 구체적인 지도방안을 연구해 봄으로써 현장에서 영어를 지도하는 교사들에게 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 사료 된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purposes of this study were by examining the integrated contents of the 5th and 6th grade guidebooks prepared according to the 2015 revised curriculum, to assist instructors in conducting courses by integrating English and other topics in the actual educational field. Methods For this purpose, all five guidebooks described in connection with other subjects were analyzed using the criteria offered, which included subjects linked to other subjects and frequency, topics (materials), learning methodologies integration, and guidebooks’ characteristics. Results As a result, there were 296 integrations with other courses in 10 subjects in the 5th and 6th grade elementary English guidebooks. Social studies had the highest connections with other subjects (66 times), followed by practical subjects (64 times), both of which were significantly higher than other subjects. Following that, morality was linked 35 times, Korean language and physical education were linked 31 times each, art was linked 28 times, science was linked 17 times, mathematics was linked 13 times, music was linked 10 times, and creative experiential activity was 1 times. Various natural and humanistic variables that affect human life in society were the most frequently used themes or materials (16 times), followed by occupational issues (11 times) and job search (12 times) in practical subjects. 14 periods in physical education were heavily utilized for exercise and leisure activities. Many connections were created in the Korean language during the learning approach, including writing (5 times), comprehending, enjoying, and communicating (4 times), and talking and discussing (3 times). Learning techniques like expressing and designing in art, as well as expressing and appreciating music in music, were found to be connected. The connectivity with mathematics and science disciplines is relatively poor, implying that teaching the topics of these main subjects in English to progress with content language integrated learning is still a challenge. Nonverbal resources such as graphs and bar graphs were mostly used in arithmetic topics, while easy-to-access items such as stars, constellations, seasons, and the solar system were used to minimize the linguistic burden in science subjects. Conclusions Based on the above research results, in order to ensure that integrated courses of other topics and English departments can be performed properly in the actual educational field, extensive explanations and varied materials must be included in the instruction manual. It is hoped that through studying practical and specialized instructional approaches, it will be of assistance to teachers who teach English in the field, allowing the English department and other disciplines to be merged.
