20대 여성의 신체상 왜곡과 신체불만족에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 20대 여성이 자신의 체형을 정확하게 보고하고 있는지에 대해 알아보고, 이러한 보고가 신체만족도와 관련이 있는지 알아보았다. 또한 20대 여성의 이상적 체형에 대해 알아보고, 이상적 체형과 신체만족도가 관련이 있는지 알아보았다. 연구를 위해 서울에 거주중인 20대 여성 50명을 대상으로, 신체 외형척도와 신체만족도를 수행하였다. 수집한 자료는 대응표본 t검정, 카이제곱검정 및 상관분석을 실시하였으며, 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참가자는 실제보다 자신의 체형에 대해 과대하게 보고하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 참가자는 자신보다 마른체형을 이상적 체형으로 보고 있는 것으로 보인다. 셋째, 외형적으로 얼마나 살이 쪘는지 보다는 키나 몸무게와 같은 실제 숫자로 들어나는 치수가 신체만족도와 더 관련이 있는 것으로 보인다. 넷째, 그림상으로 나타나는 자신과 이상적 체형의 차이보다는 이상적 체형에 비해 상대적으로 느끼는 자신의 몸매에 대한 좋고 나쁨에 대한 차이가 신체 만족도와 더 관련이 있는 것으로 보여진다. 이러한 연구 결과는 서울에 거주중인 20대 여성들이 자신을 실제보다 크고 부정적으로 보고 있다는 것을 밝히고, 외형적인 부분보다는 직접적으로 제시되는 체중과 같은 수치가 중요하다는 알아보았다는 것에 의의를 두었다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의 및 제한점과 후속 연구에 대한 제언점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the accurateness of the self-reports of women in their 20s about their somatotype and the relationship between their self-reports and body satisfaction. Further, we intended to investigate the ideal somatotype of women in their 20s and the relationship between the ideal body type and body satisfaction. The subjects in this study were 50 selected women in their 20s residing in Seoul. A Figure Rating Scale and a Body Satisfaction Scale were utilized, and paired samples t-test, chi-square test, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to analyze the collected data. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the participants made exaggerated reports of their body types. Second, they thought that a body type that was thinner than their own would be ideal. Third, body satisfaction was associated more with a measurement that was represented in numbers such as height or weight than with external appearance, namely how fat they were. Fourth, body satisfaction was linked more to whether they felt relatively good or bad about their figure in comparison with the ideal somatotype than to the difference between their silhouette and the ideal somatotype. This study is of significance as it found that female residents in Seoul, who were in their 20s, viewed themselves negatively and bigger than they were, and that measurement that was directly presented was more important than external appearance.
