국문 초록

본 연구는 해외 현지에서 한국어를 가르치는 외국인 교사를 대상으로 국립한국교통대학교에서 실시한 교사 재교육 프로그램의 커리큘럼을 보이고, 추후의 참가자 설문조사 분석결과를 토대로 외국인 교사를 위한 재교육 프로그램의 나아갈 방향성을 제시하였다. 관련 선행연구를 바탕으로 이론적인 지식 획득보다 실제 교수법 중심의 커리큘럼, 체험활동 중심의 한국문화 습득, 문법 관련 전문용어나 교수법 관련 전문용어에 대한 선제적 이해 등에 초점화하여 재교육 프로그램을 구성하였다. 설문조사 분석결과, 한국어 교수법 향상, 한국어 능력 신장, 교육 자료의 획득, 연수 프로그램의 내용구성, 교사 효능감 신장에서 긍정적이었던 반면에 언어영역별 교수법 습득과 한국어 및 한국문화에 대한 경험적, 교수법적 지식 습득, 수업 토의와 자기 수업성찰에서 매우 긍정적인 응답결과가 나타났다. 반면에 한국어 교수 방법 확대, 연수프로그램의 교육과정 보완, 교육 자료 제공에서 보다 강화된 교육이 필요함이 지적되었다. 특히 교수방법, 교육자료, 교육과정에서 긍정과 부정의 응답이 함께 나타나서 이에 대한 외국인 교사들의 관심이 높음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 분석결과를 바탕으로 지식 및 이론 중심의 온라인 교육과 학습자 집단의 학습목적별 교수법에 대한 실제 습득 및 적용 중심의 오프라인 프로그램 간의 연계 운영의 필요, 현지 교사 간 온라인 네트워크 구축 및 활성화를 통한 교육자료의 공유와 접근 가능성 제고, 국가적 차원에서의 토픽 관련 교수자료 개발과 보급의 필요, 보다 장기적으로는 외국인 교사의 변인과 요구조사에 따른 맞춤형 교사 연수 프로그램의 실현이 필요함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This research attempted to design the curriculum for the retraining program for non-native Korean language teachers from the Korea National University of Transportation who are living abroad. Additionally, it aimed to suggest a direction for the program by utilizing the results of the survey conducted in the study. Based upon related prior research, the curriculum for this program emphasized actual teaching methods, acquiring Korean culture through various activities, and a preunderstanding of grammar-related terminology or pedagogical terminology. The analysis of the participants’ survey responses revealed that the enhancement of teaching methods, the development of Korean language ability, the design/acquisition of educational materials, and the strengthened self-efficacy proved to be highly positive. On the other hand, additional teaching methods and more detailed teaching materials were demanded. In particular, positive and negative responses from participants appeared with respect to teaching methods, educational materials, and the curriculum, which confirms the high level of interest held by foreign Korean language teachers. Based upon the results of the analysis, there appears to be a need for a linkage between online education focused on knowledge and theory and offline programs centered on actual acquisition and application of teaching methods for every learning purpose of the learner group. Additionally, a case could be made for the necessity to improve the dissemination and accessibility of localized teaching materials at the national level, including TOPIK related ones. In the long term, the realization of a customized teacher retraining program that meets the variables and needs of foreign teachers is expected.
