국문 초록

본 연구는 사례연구로써, 최근 우리 공연예술시장에서 동서양 음악의 융. 복합 공연들이 많이 공연되는 가운데, 이 가운데 상대적으로 좋은 성과를 낸 공연의 사례를 분석해 보고자 시도되었다. 이번 사례 연구의 대상인 <소프라노 박성희, 국창 임방울을 그리다> 음악회 결과를 고찰하고 다층적으로 분석하여 공연이 성공할 수 있었던 요인과 특징을 찾아 유의미한 결과를 이끌어내는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 이를 수행하고자 문헌고찰과 면담조사, 기획과 실제 공연현장 참여 등을 통해 음악회와 관련된 배경과 실제를 다각도로 조사했으며 이를 비평적 관점에서 전개하고 분석하였다. 그 결과, 이번 공연이 성공적으로 평가받을 수 있던 요인을 두 가지로 파악하였다. 첫째, 서로 이질적인 요소가 많은 동. 서양 음악의 융. 복합 혹은 교차적 연주를 공연할 때는 두 장르와 공연자를 연결해줄 예술적 관계성이 확보되어야 한다. 이러한 예술적 관계성을 토대로 공연자들은 공감대를 형성하게 된다. 이를 바탕으로 한 공연의 완성도는 높아지고 관객의 만족도 또한 높아질 수 있다. 두 번째, 공연 관계자들은 관객으로부터 공감적 감상을 이끌어낼 수 있어야 한다. 이번 공연은 공연의 주체인 소프라노 박성희와 공연의 주제가 된 국창 임방울 사이에 특별하고 극적인 서사가 존재했다. 관객들은 이질적인 세계에서 상대를 타자화하며 살아온 두 예술가가 무대 위에서 이해하고 공감하는 과정을 지켜보면서 감정이입을 통한 공감적인 감상을 할 수 있었다고 파악된다. 따라서 드라마를 기반으로 한 음악극 이외에, 연주회 형식의 공연에서도 공연 전반을 관통하고 지탱하는 스토리텔링이 선행되어야 할 것이라고 분석되었다. 이번 사례연구에서 도출된 결과가 한국 공연예술의 다원화와 발전에 기여하기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This case study attempts to analyze the successful convergence and combined performances of Eastern and Western music in Korean performing arts. Its purpose is to examine the outcome of the concert “Soprano Park Sung-hee pines for Lim Bang-ul, the national singer” and to analyze its multiple layers, in order to determine the factors and characteristics that enabled its success and draw meaningful conclusions. The background and practice related to the concert were investigated from various angles through a literature review and interviews, planning, and actual performance sites, and the concert was developed and analyzed from a critical point of view. As a result, two factors were identified that made this performance successful. First, in the fusion and combination or cross-play of Eastern and Western music, which has many disparate elements, the artistic relationship between the two genres and performers must be secured. Based on this artistic relationship, performers will form a consensus, and performances will reach a higher level of perfection and audience satisfaction. Second, performers should be able to draw sympathetic appreciation from the audience. The performance analyzed in this study showed a special and dramatic narrative between soprano Park Sung-hee, the main character of the performance, and Lim Bang-ul, the subject of the performance. Though two artists have otherized each other and lived in a different world but they came to understand and sympathize with each other on the stage. Through appreciation of this process, the audience was able to empathize with the two artists. Therefore, it was analyzed that storytelling that penetrates and supports the entire performance should be preceded not only by drama-based musical plays but also by concert-style performances. We hope that the results derived from this case study will contribute to the diversification and development of Korean performing arts.
