소매틱움직임치료에 대한 여성주의적 ‘몸’ 이해

국문 초록

이 연구는 여성주의적 관점으로 소매틱 움직임 치료 내 여성의 몸을 다루는 방식을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구자는 여성은 주체이면서 동시에 타자로 있는 이중적 위치에 있다는 것을 전제로 다음과 같은 질문을 가졌다. 먼저, 이중적인 상황에 놓여 있는 여성의 몸은 소매틱 움직임 치료를 통해 다차원적 체험양식의 변조를 이뤄갈 수 있는가? 두 번째, 지금여기 몸의 공간에서 펼쳐지는 움직임은 성중립적인가, 몸의 왜곡은 시선의 문제만으로 해결되는 것이 아니라 시선에 따르는 해석의 문제라면 그 대안은 무엇인가? 결론은 다음과 같다. 여성의 몸은 구속과 제약에 묶여 있지만 동시에 협상을 통해 능동적으로 행위 할 수 있는 ‘이중적인 상황’ 속에 있다. 신체도식의 왜곡을 다루는 소매틱 움직임 치료는 반복된 훈련을 통해 이러한 여성들의 몸의 전체성을 회복하도록 돕는다. 이는 다차원적인 체험양식변조를 통해 가능해진다. 단, 여성의 몸은 세계와의 불일치를 자주 경험하고, 성별화된 몸의 공간에 놓여있는 한계를 갖고 있기에 체험양식의 이자적/삼자적 관점의 경계에 더 주목할 필요가 있다. 특히 타자와 마주하는 이자적 살의 체험은 알아차림을 통해 바깥 세계의 실재를 알아가게 한다. 그래서 이때 몸의 이중적 상황에 대한 자각과 통찰은 매우 중요하다. 이 지점이 오히려 지금여기 깨어있음을 촉진하여 세계와의 상호작용을 돕는다. 이 논의는 여성학 이론을 기반으로 하는 여성실천영역과 소매틱스 방법론을 다루는 심리치료 영역의 연결지점을 찾고자 하는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This thesis attempted to examine how to grasp the gendered female body in somatic movement therapy, from a feminist perspective. I asked the following questions, on the premise that women are in a dual position of simultaneously being the subject and the other. First, can a woman s body be modulated through somatic movement therapy in a dual situation with a multi-dimensional experiential style? Second, is the movement unfolding in the space of the body, here and now, gender-neutral; and if the distortion of the body is not merely explained by the issue of gaze, what is the alternative, if it pertains to interpretation through the gaze? The results are as follows.Although the woman s body is bound to restriction and restraint, it is simultaneously in a “dual situation”, and can actively act through negotiations. Somatic movement therapy, which deals with distortions of the body-schemata, helps women regain the integrity of their body through repeated training. This is enabled through multi-dimensional experience modulating. However, since the female body frequently experiences inconsistencies with the world and limitations lying in the space of the gendered body, the boundary between the two-way and three-way perspectives of the somatic experience pattern must be further considered. In particular, the two-way experience of the flesh facing the other engenders awareness of the reality of the outside world through mindfulness. Therefore, awareness and insight into the dual situation of the body are critical. Consequently, this argument promotes awakening here and now, facilitating interactions with the world. This discussion is meaningful in finding a connection between the field of women s practice based on feminist theory and the field of psychotherapy regarding somatic methodology.
