국문 초록

이 연구는 ‘초등학생의 역사하기’의 특징과 초등 역사 수업에 주는 시사점을 확인하기 위해 초등학교 6학년 역사하기 동아리를 사례로 진행된 문화기술적 사례연구이다. 연구는 초등학생의 역사하기 동아리 사례를 구체적으로 기술하고, 그 속에서 나타난 초등학생의 역사하기의 특징과 초등 역사 수업에 주는 시사점을 분석하는 과정으로 진행되었다. 연구 결과, 초등학생의 역사하기 과정은 ‘질문-자료조사-해석’의 과정이 꼬리를 물며 반복되었다. 역사탐구 과정에서 나타난 초등학생의 질문은 ‘궁금증을 제기’하는 질문과 ‘꼼꼼히 읽기’ 위한 질문으로 구분되었다. 초등학생들은 다양한 방법을 활용하여 여러 유형의 자료를 조사하였다. 해석 과정에서 나타난 초등학생의 사고양상은 수집한 자료의 특성에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 도출한 초등 역사 수업에서 역사하기를 적용하기 위한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생 주변에 실재하는 사료들은 과거로 향하는 사고를 활성화시켰다. 둘째, 수업은 다양한 사료의 분석을 통해 귀납적으로 역사적 의미를 구성하는 경험을 제공해야 한다. 셋째, 인터넷 검색을 활용한 자료조사는 최소화되어야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to verify the academic implications of Doing History in elementary schools, based on characteristics evident from cases of Doing History by elementary students. As a result of the research, the process of Doing History by elementary students was a repetition of the “question-data search-interpretation” cycle. The types of questions can be categorized into either “raising questions” or “reading carefully.” Elementary students used various methods to survey various types of data. The thinking patterns of elementary students in the process of interpretation differed depending on the characteristics of historical data. The following are the academic implications for Doing History in elementary history classes. First, elementary history classes should utilize the authentic historical data that exists around students for applying Doing History effectively. Second, elementary history class should provide an experience of analyzing various sources and organizing historical meanings. Third, research activities using internet are not suitable for Doing History.
