국문 초록

이 연구는 2022년부터 학교 현장에서 사용하게 될 초등사회과 검정 도서의 발행을 앞두고 검정제로의 전환이 갖는 의미를 파악하여, 자율성과 다양성이 보장된 초등사회과 교과서 개발에 시사점을 제공하고자 미국 교과서 4종을 비교 분석한 것이다. 분석 범위는 우리나라에서 교과서 관련 논쟁이 뜨거운 역사 영역을 범위로 선정하였고, 그 중에서 특히 5학년 교과서에 제시된 미국 혁명 이전의 역사 인물을 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 미국 교과서의 미국 혁명 이전의 역사 영역에서 제시된 인물은 총 100명이었으며, 이 중 4종 교과서에 모두 공통적으로 제시된 인물은 16명이었다. 단원 구성에 따라 연대기적 구성을 적극 반영한 교과서도 있었고, 탄력적으로 운영하는 교과서도 있었다. 인물에 대한 학습은 단원 도입, 코너 활용, 본문 서술 등 다양한 방법이 있었으며, 출판사에 따라 제시하는 내용에 큰 차이가 나타나는 인물도 있었다. 따라서, 우리나라 검정 교과서에서도 내용의 왜곡이나 오류가 없다면 인물의 선정, 단원의 구성, 인물에 대한 평가나 업적 등에 대해 집필진의 자율성을 보장하여 다양한 교과서가 출판될 수 있도록 검정 기준을 수정할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study compared and analyzed four kinds of American textbooks to provide implications for the development of elementary social studies textbooks that guarantee autonomy and diversity by grasping the meaning of the transition to the test system ahead of the publication of the elementary social studies Authorized books to be used in the school field from 2022. The scope of analysis was selected as the hottest history area in Korea, and especially the historical figures before the American Revolution presented in the fifth grade textbook were analyzed. The results of the analysis showed that there were a total of 100 people in the history area before the American Revolution in American textbooks, of which 16 were presented in common in all four textbooks. There were textbooks that actively reflected chronological composition according to the composition of the unit, and there were textbooks that operated flexibly. There were various methods such as introduction of unit, corner use, text description and there were some people who showed great difference in contents presented by publisher. Therefore, if there is no distortion or error in the contents in the Korean textbooks, the criteria for testing should be changed so that various textbooks can be published by guaranteeing the autonomy of the writers about the selection of characters, the composition of the unit, the evaluation of characters, and achievements.
