고등학생의 과학 연구보고서 제목 작성에서 나타나는 오류 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 학생과 지도 교사에게 바람직한 과학연구 보고서 제목 쓰기를 위한 정보를 제공하는 교육 방안의 필요성에서 시작되었다. 과학교육 분야에서 제목 작성의 중요성은 언급되고 있지만, 구체적 지침이나 전략이 미흡하고 학생들이 제목을 작성하는 데에서 나타나는 문제점을 도출한 연구도 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 10개월 동안 과학 연구를 수행한 고등학생의 과학 연구보고서 제목에 나타나는 오류를 중심으로 경향성을 분석하였다. 분석대상은 2016년부터 2019년까지 수행된 STEAM R&E 연구보고서 520개였다. 박석주와 김현주(2012)의 제목 구성요소 틀을 수정하여 고등학생 과학연구보고서 제목 요소를 분석하였고, 제목의 의미전달이 불분명한 제목은 형식과 내용 두 가지 측면에서 문제점을 탐색하였다. 제목의 형식 분석은 제목 구성요소와 종결형식으로, 제목의 내용 분석은 신뢰성과 명료성을 기준으로 하였다. 연구결과, 과학 연구보고서 제목 작성에서 나타난 오류를 네 가지 도출하였다. 첫째, 구체적인 연구대상이나 핵심변인의 누락 및 중의적 표현의 사용으로 인해 연구내용과의 관련성이 낮다. 둘째, 가설이나 궁금증을 의문형으로 표현하였다. 셋째, 불필요한 관형사나 주관적인 용어를 사용하여 신뢰성이 낮다. 마지막으로 불필요하고 잘못된 부호를 사용하였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 유형에 따라 사례를 통해 문제점을 도출하고, 과학 연구보고서의 제목 작성을 위한 지도방향과 가이드 질문을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Previous research on school science inquiry has been emphasized the importance of the research title, but little has been studied about the characteristics or the problem of the titles of science research reports. This study aimed to guide students and teachers in science research project with information to write a title. In this study, we analyzed science research reports examples of high school students who have participated in STEAM R&E project for 10 months. A total of 520 reports and its title, from 2016 to 2019, were collected through the website. Research titles were analyzed in the aspects of both construct and content. We revised a framework of Park and Kim (2012) and used the framework in analyzing the components of the titles. Then, the examples of the titles which are not informative and not clear were selected and counted. Based on the characteristics of the chosen example, we classified them into four types of the title: 1) absence of ‘research subject’ component or ‘explanation of research condition’ component, 2) the title in a question form, 3) presence of certain ambiguous words such as ‘various’ or ‘unique’, and 4) the title with incorrect punctuation such as semicolons. In the results section, we described several examples of each types and their problem as well as the appropriate modifications. Base on the results, researchers suggested six reflecting checklists as directions for writing titles of science research reports.
