국문 초록

문화재는 자연환경 및 인위적 손상 등 다양한 원인에 의해 손상되어지며, 한번 손상된 문화재는 본래의 형태를 잃어 다시 원형을 회복하기 어렵다. 현재 문화재의 상태를 기록화하는 과정으로는 사진촬영, 수작업에 의한 실측 등이 이루어지고 있으나 최근에는 디지털 기술의 발달로 3D 스캐닝과 프린팅을 활용해 디지털 문화유산의 보존, 복원 등 다양한 방면에서 활용되기 시작하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 도자기 문화재인 분청상감모란당초문 장고의 디지털 복원을 통해 새로운 복원 방법의 적용 가능성을 확인해보고자 하였다. 디지털 복원은 범위설정 ⟶ 3D Scan ⟶ 3D Modeling ⟶ Retopology ⟶ Unwrap UVW ⟶ Texture mapping의 과정을 통해 진행하여 장고 원형을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 완료된 데이터는 디지털 실측을 통해 현재 상태 및 원형 추정, 제원 등의 기록화 작업에 활용 가능성을 확인 하였다. 디지털 복원은 다양한 프로그램 및 기기가 활용되며 사용자의 숙련도에 따라 결과물의 차이가 나타날 수 있으며, 연속성 및 대칭을 나타내거나, 정확한 형태를 확인할 수 있는 유물에 적용한다면 보다 효과적이고 정확한 정보와 보존성 높은 데이터를 획득할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 또한 획득한 데이터는 디지털 전시, VR재현기술, 도면화 작업 등 활용 범위가 높은 것을 확인하였으며, 본 연구를 기반으로 디지털 복원의 지속적이고 체계적인 연구ㆍ개발이 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

Cultural assets can be damaged for various reasons such as environmental and artificial effects, and once damaged, they can hardly to be restored to their original form. While the existing process of recording the state of cultural assets includes photo shoot and survey by manual labor, the advancements of digital technology has led to 3D scan and printing being used for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritages. So, this study sought to examine the potential for applying a new restoration method by means of digital restoration of ceramic cultural asset, Buncheongsangkam Morandangchomun Drum. Digital restoration was conducted in the order of Setting the Scope ⟶ 3D Scan ⟶ 3D Modeling ⟶ Retopology ⟶ Unwrap UVW ⟶ Texture Mapping. As a result, the study was able to identify the original shape of the Drum. Along the way, it also found that completed data could be used in recording the work, including assumption of the current state and original shape and identification of material sources. Digital restoration normally uses varied programs and instruments, and its outcomes might be different depending on the user’s skills. Even so, the study believes that, should this method be applied to artefacts that show continuity and symmetry or exact identifiable shapes, this new method could obtain more effective, exact information along with data of high potential for conservation. Furthermore, the study also found that acquired data could be used in the diverse fields, including digital exhibition, VR reproduction technique, and mapping. Based on these findings, digital restoration is expected to see steady and systematic research and development initiatives, soon.
