고등학생 논설문 쓰기에서 내용 생성 단계의 인지 과정 탐색

국문 초록

본고는 고등학생 필자들이 논설문을 작성하기 위한 내용을 생성하는 단계에서 보이는 인지 과정을 탐색하고, 쓰기 수준별로 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 분석함으로써 학교 현장에서 실질적으로 활용될 수 있는 필자의 인지 과정에 대한 정보를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 필자들은 논설문 쓰기를 위한 내용 생성 단계에서 대부분 인터넷을 활용하며 주로 구체적 사례와 관련된 자료를 수집하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내용 생성 단계의 인지 과정은 ‘자료 탐색’, ‘자료 선정’, ‘자료정리’로 구성되어 있으며, 필자들은 ‘자료 선정’ 과정에 가장 많은 인지적 노력을 쏟는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 능숙한 필자들은 미숙한 필자들보다 더 많은 인지 과정을 거쳐, 더 풍부한 내용을 생성하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 능숙한 필자들은 미숙한 필자들에 비해 내용 생성 단계에서 생성한 자료들을 최종 글을 쓸 때까지 유지하는 경향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 자료와 정보들을 글에 활용하는 방법, 인터넷 자료와 배경 지식을 관련지어 내용을 생성해 내는 방법, ‘자료 선정’ 의 인지 과정에 관한 정보들을 쓰기 교육 내용으로 구체화시킬 것을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the cognitive process of generating ideas in high school student’s persuasive writing and to analyze what cognitive differences are shown by the level of writing. This is to provide information about the writer s cognitive process to teachers. First, In the stage of generating ideas for persuasive writing, it has been shown that writers mostly use the Internet and collect data mainly related to specific cases. Second, the problem-solving process for generating ideas consist of searching data , selecting data , arranging data and it turned out that it is selecting data that writers put the most cognitive effort into. Third, proficient writers go through more cognitive process and create richer ideas than non-proficient writers, there is significant differences in selecting of data . Forth, proficient writers tend to keep the data until writing stage and not to add new data compared to non-proficient writers. Based on these results, this study proposed that information on how to utilize the numerous data for writing, how to generate ideas combining Internet data and background knowledge, and the cognitive process of ‘selecting data should be embodied in writing education.
