국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 2015 개정 교육과정을 토대로 개발된 초등학교 3학년 영어교과서에 수록된 영어동화를 비교 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 2015 개정 초등학교 3학년 영어교과서 5종을 수집하였다. 각 영어교과서에 포함된 영어동화를 동화 종류, 소재, 원작 내용과의 동일성, 지도 방법의 4가지 기준으로 나누었고, 지도 방법은 언어기능, 피드백의 주체, 연계 활동으로 세분하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 첫째, 영어동화의 종류는 창작동화가 전래동화보다 더 높은 빈도수를 나타냈다. 둘째, 영어동화의 소재는 2015 개정 교육과정에서 제시한 19개 소재 중에서 ‘공중도덕, 예절, 배려, 협력, 봉사, 책임감’이 가장 높은 빈도수를 보여주었다. 셋째, 교과서에 수록된 영어동화의 원작 내용 동일성에 대해서는 원작과 내용이 일부 동일한 동화가 가장 자주 나타났다. 지도 방법에 있어서 언어 기능적 면에서는 듣기와 말하기가 동일하게 가장 높은 빈도수를 보여주었다. 피드백의 주체에 있어서는 교사 피드백의 빈도수가 가장 컸다. 영어동화를 활용한 연계 활동은 모든 영어동화에서 나타났고, 동일하게 역할극의 형태를 보였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 초등학교 3학년 영어교과서의 영어동화에 대한 교육적 시사점을 논하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze English fairy tales contained in third grade primary English textbooks developed based on the 2015 revised national curriculum. For this purpose, five primary English textbooks for the third grade of the 2015 revised national curriculum were collected. The English fairy tales contained in each primary English textbook were divided into four categories: type of English fairy tales, topic of English fairy tales, identity with the original English fairy tales, and teaching methods. The teaching methods were analyzed by subdividing into language functions, feedback, and linked activities. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, the type of English fairy tales showed a higher frequency of creative fairy tales than traditional ones. Second, the topic of English fairy tales with the highest frequency was public morality, etiquette, consideration, cooperation, service and responsibility among the 19 topics presented in the 2015 revised national curriculum. Third, on the identity of the original content of English fairy tales in the textbooks, the same fairy tales in part were found most frequently. In teaching methods, the highest frequency of listening and speaking was the same in terms of language skills. In case of feedback, the frequency of teacher feedback was highest. Linked activities using English fairy tales appeared in all English fairy tales in the textbooks, with the same form of role play. Based on these findings, pedagogical implications of English fairy tales in third grade English textbooks of primary school were discussed.
