정신질환자 부모를 둔 학령기 아동을 위한 회복탄력성 증진 프로그램의 개발과 적용

국문 초록

본 연구는 취약한 환경에 놓인 정신질환자 자녀의 내적 힘인 회복탄력성 증진을 위한 코칭 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 평가하기 위해 시도되었다. 대상자는 정신질환자 부모를 둔 학령기 아동 8명이었고, 프로그램은 매회 2시간씩 총 12회기로 구성되었으며, 프로그램 운영을 위한 세부 지침을 매뉴얼로 개발하였다. 프로그램을 2017년 12월부터 2018년 2월까지 적용하였고, 그 효과를 양적, 질적방법으로 평가하였다. 아동의 회복탄력성과 행복감을 자가보고형 질문지를 이용해 프로그램 전후에 측정하였고, 비모수 통계인 Wilcoxon Sign-Rank test를 이용하여 분석하였으며, 연구자가 매회기 작성한 아동의 행동관찰일지를 함께 분석하였다. 그 결과 아동의 행복감은 상승하였고, 회복탄력성은 통계적으로 유의한 변화를 보이지 않았다. 그러나 행동관찰일지 분석 결과 프로그램 중반 이후 변화가 나타나기 시작해서 또래와 어울리는 즐거움을 표현하고, 어른과 신뢰관계를 맺는 행동을 보임에 따라 향상된 자신감을 나타내고 가족이나 외부 환경에 대해 긍정적 태도를 보이는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 프로그램은 정신질환자 부모를 둔 아동의 회복탄력성과 행복감을 증진 시키는데 효과가 있다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 대상자 모집이 용이하지 않으므로 대상자 범주를 지역사회 취약계층 아동으로 확대하고, 프로그램의 반복 운영을 통해 결과를 재확인하여 확대 발전시켜 나갈 것을 제언한다.

영문 초록

This study developed a coaching program to improve the resilience of children with mentally ill parents. The subjects were eight elementary school students and the study consisted of a single-group pre-post experimental design. The program constructed activities based on a component of resilience, and resources like people and goods for operation. The program had 12 sessions from December 2017-February 2018. The program’s effects were measured through self-report questionnaires for children’s resilience and happiness. The analysis used the Wilcoxon Sign-Rank test. Additionally, a mixed method of projective picture test and participant observation was conducted. Statistically, children’s happiness increased, and resilience did not change significantly. However, from the behavior observation and picture analysis of the children, it was confirmed that self-confidence and attitude toward the family and the external environment were improved through improvement of peer relationships and the formation of relationships based on trust with adults. This program is effective in improving the resilience and happiness of children with mental illness. Therefore, it is recommended that the program should be repeatedly operated to expand and develop it further for vulnerable children in the community.
