대학생의 대인 커뮤니케이션 능력의 중요도와 보유도: 다학제 전공 접근

국문 초록

본 연구는 대인 커뮤니케이션 능력에 대한 학습자 중심의 학제 간 연구로 커뮤니케이션 교육에 대한 프로그램 개발 및 학습에 관한 기초자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 커뮤니케이션 능력이 중요한 전공분야(미디어커뮤니케이션학과, 상담심리학 과, 간호학과)의 대학생들이 인식하는 사회적 평정심, 사회인지, 공감 및 진실성, 자기공개, 반응력, 경청의 6개 요인으로 구성된 대인 커뮤니케이션 능력에 대한 중요도와 보유도를 조사하고 이를 IPA 분석을 통해 비교하였다. 충청소재 대학의 학부생 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, 자료수집은 2018년 3월 19일에서 3월 30일까지 시행하였다. 전체 대상자들은 사회인지, 공감 및 진실성, 반응력, 경청 요인에 대해 중요도와 보유도가 동시에 높았고, 사회적 평정심과 자기공개 요인은 중요도와 보유도가 모두 낮았다. 이는 사회연결망 서비스를 통한 의사소통 및 사회적 관계 욕구 충족과 같은 대학생의 커뮤니케이션 특성과 관련이 있다. 대인 커뮤니케이션 교육에 있어서 자기공개와 사회적 평정심의 중요성을 인식하도록 하고 적절한 자기공개와 사회적 평정심을 가질 수 있는 방법을 훈련해야 한다. 학과별 비교에 의하면 상담심리학과 간호학 전공의 경우 전체표본과 유사한 양상을 나타냈으나, 미디어커뮤니케이션학과는 반응력요인만 중요도와 보유도가 높은 것으로 나타났고, 공감 및 진실성 요인과 사회인지 요인은 중요하게 생각하지만 실제 보유능력은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 향후 미디어커뮤니케이션학과의 경우 대인적, 사회적 상황에서 커뮤니케이션을 할 수 있는 교육과 훈련을 강화할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study is a learner-oriented interdisciplinary study of interpersonal communication abilities. This study aims to provide basic data on program development and learning for communication education. The importance and retention of interpersonal communication ability consisting of six factors: Social relaxation, social cognition, self-disclosure, candour and empathy, speedy reaction, and listening ability were investigated and compared through IPA. Subjects were college students in fields where communication abilities are important (media department, counseling psychology department, nursing department) Data was collected from March 19-30, 2018. The overall subjects were both high in importance and retention on social cognition, candour and empathy, speedy reaction, and listening factors, while social relaxation and self-disclosure factors were both low in importance and retention. This relates to university students communication characteristics, such as communication and social relationships through social networking services. Interpersonal communication education needs to strengthen awareness of the importance of social relaxation and self-disclosure and include appropriate strategies to develop social relaxation and self-disclosure. Comparisons by department showed that the major in counseling psychology and nursing were similar to the overall sample, but only the speedy reaction factor was high in importance and retention, and the media communication department found that the factors of candour and empathy as well as social cognition were important, but the actual ability to hold them was low. In the future, the department needs to strengthen education and training to communicate in personal and social situations.
