국문 초록

본 연구는 최근에 많은 관심을 받고 있는 혁신적 학습 환경에 대한 탐색적 연구로서 그 개념을 살펴보고, 혁신적 학습 환경의 교육효과, 혁신적 학습 환경 구성 요소, 혁신적 학습 환경을 위한 교사의 역할 등을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 혁신적 학습 환경에 대한 최신의 연구결과들을 검토한 결과, 전통적 학습 환경에 비해 학업성취도를 높일 수 있는 것으로 확인 되었고, 이것은 공간 자체의 영향이라기보다는 다양한 교실 레이아웃의 요소를 사용하는 교사의 능력, 신념, 전문 지식에 의한 것이었다. 학급의 환경 요소는 공간의 자연 친화성(naturalness), 자극(stimulation), 학습자 개인을 지원하고 유연성을 갖춘 교실 디자인(classroom design) 등으로 확인되었다. 혁신적 학습 환경을 형성하고 그 효과를 확보하기 위해서는 교사의 사고방식의 변화, 자기반성적 활동, 개방형 질문을 활용한 학습활동, 개별 학습자의 존중, 문제발견하기 활동, 긍정적 실패 경험 제공 등의 역할이 요구되었다.

영문 초록

This study is an exploratory study on the innovative learning environments(ILE) that has received much attention recently. The purpose of this study was to explore the concept of ILE, the educational effects of ILE, the components of the ILE, and the role of teachers for the ILE. After reviewing the latest research results on ILE, it was found that innovative learning environment can improve academic achievement compared to traditional learning environment. Its effects was not only caused by physical space or materials, but by abilities, beliefs, and expertises of teachers to control the layout of classroom. The environmental factors of the classroom were the naturalness of the space, stimulation, and the design of the classroom with flexibility and support for the learner. In order to create an innovative learning environment and guarantee its effects, it calls for changes in the teacher s mindset, self-reflective activities, learning activities using open questions, respect for individual learners, problem-finding activities, and provision of positive failure experiences.
