스토리텔링을 활용한 유아 뉴스 리터러시 교육 활동이 유아의 공감 능력 및 비판적 사고력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 스토리텔링을 활용한 유아 뉴스 리터러시 활동이 유아의 공감 능력 및 비판적 사고력에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 인천시에 소재한 J 유치원 만 5세 50명의 유아를 연구 대상으로 실험집단, 비교집단 각각 25명 으로 구성하였다. 사전검사를 통해 평균 월령, 공감 능력, 비판적 사고력에 있어 동질집단임을 확인하였다. 실험집단에는 본 연구에서 개발한 스토리텔링을 활용한 유아 뉴스 리터러시 교육 활동을, 비교집단에는 기존에 개발되었던 ‘건강하고 바른세상 뉴스로 배워요!’ 프로그램을 수정·보완하여 적용하였다. 총 7주간 16차시의 활동을 진행하였으며 사전·사후 검사 결과는 SPSS 25.0을 사용하여 독립표본 T검증을 사용하여 통계 처리하였다. 연구결과, 스토리텔링을 활용한 유아 뉴스 리터러시 교육 활동은 공감 능력과 하위변인인 기쁨, 슬픔, 분노에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였으며, 비판적 사고력과 그 하위변인인 서로 다른 관점을 인식하기, 생각을 검증하기, 판단하여 이유를 말하기, 결과를 예측하기, 타인에게 적용한 기준을 나에게 적용해 보기에서 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아 대상 뉴스 리터러시 교육 활성화를 위한 교수학습방법으로 스토리텔링을 활용하였으며, 유아교육 현장에서 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine how children news literacy education based on storytelling affects children’s empathic ability and critical thinking skills. For this study, fifty 5-year-old children from ‘J’ kindergarten in Incheon were surveyed and experimental group and comparative group were organized with 25 children each. Through pretest, the two groups were verified as a homogeneous group in average age of the moon, empathic ability and critical thinking skills. Experimental group proceeded with children news literacy education based on story telling which was developed from this study and comparative group proceeded with a program called ‘Learn healthy and right world with news’ which was modified and supplemented. The survey was conducted 16 times for 7 weeks and the result of the pretest-posttest were statistically processed with Independent Samples T Test, using SPSS 25.0. As a result, the children news literacy education based on storytelling had a statistically meaningful differences not only in empathic ability but also in joy, sadness and anger which are the sub-variables. Furthermore, the critical thinking skills and its sub-variables: understanding a different point of view, verifying thoughts, telling reasons after judging, expecting a result, applying a standard to me which was applied to other person, also had a meaningful differences. The result of this study used storytelling as a teaching-learning method for activation of children news literacy education and can be used in childhood education field.
