북한 영어교육 연구 동향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국내 북한 영어교육 연구들의 연구 동향을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 북한 영어교육과 관련한 연구들 71편의 사례를 수집하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 북한 영어교육 연구들을 시기별 양적 변화, 출판 동향, 연구 대상, 연구 내 용, 연구 방법별로 나누어 분석하였다. 분석결과, 2010년 이후 북한 영어교육 관련 연구가 양적으로 증가하였다. 또한, 학위연구의 연구가 많았으나, 학술지 연구가 최근들어 많아지고 있는 추세이다. 연구 대상은 북한 영어교과서 연구가 가장 많은 비중 을 차지하고 있었고, 북한이탈주민을 대상으로 한 연구가 증가하고 있다. 연구 내용에서는 북한 영어교과서 분석에 대한 내용을 다룬 연구가 많았다. 연구 방법은 분석연구, 조사연구, 사례연구가 많은 비중을 차지하고 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과로 국내 북한 영어교육 연구들은 최근 들어 양적으로 증가하고 있고, 연구 대상과 연구 내용, 연구 방법이 2010년 이후 다양화 되고 있었다. 이것은 북한 교육 분야에서 영어교육의 중요성이 커지고 있고, 영어교육의 현실이 변화 하며, 우리나라의 북한이탈주민들의 안정적인 정착을 위하여 영어교육에 대한 연구가 필요하기 때문으로 보인다.

영문 초록

This study is to investigate a diachronic analysis of researches on the North Korea s English education. To this end, 71 studies on North Korea s English education between 1994 and 2018 are collected and analyzed for their changes of research volumes, publication types, research topics, research contents, and research methods. The findings are: The number of studies under the considered topic has notably increased since 2010. This growing increase of studies is also found in the MA and doctoral dissertations in recent years. An analysis of English textbooks outnumbers other topics, and North Korean studies based on the defectors follows in its lead. The most dominant research method is analytic studies followed by case studies. Recent trends indicate that topics and research methods become more diverse as number of studies on North Korea s English education has increased. This is caused by the growing importance of English education and changing circumstances of English education in North Korea, and the fact that the need for unification-related researches is on the rise in order to prepare for the unification as two Koreas come into ever more frequent contacts with each other.
