국문 초록

본 연구는 의미 있는 선택 활동의 참여가 시설에 거주하는 지적장애인의 자기결정력에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 것이었다. 대상자는 지적장애 성인 2인을 대상으로 하였으며, 중재 프로그램은 주 1회, 1시간씩 총 8회 시행하였다. 중재 프로그램은 8회기 동안 8가지 요리를 만들고 정리하는 요리활동으로 구성하였고, 요리를 만드는 과정 속에서 결정을 내려야 하는 선택 상황을 만들어 대상자가 선택을 하도록 하였다. 자기결정력은 대상자가 매 회기 중재 프로그램에 참여할 때 3개의 선택 상황을 제공한 후 선택에 소요되는 총 시간을 측정하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같았다. 대상자 2인 모두 1회기에 비해 8회기에서는 선택에 소요된 결정시간이 단축되는 결과가 나타났으며, 활동을 참여하는 과정 속에서 긍정적인 정서 표현 및 참여에 대한 집중력이 향상되는 모습이 관찰되었다. 본 연구를 통해 선택의 기회를 제공하는 의미 있는 활동의 참여는 지적장애인의 자기결정력에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of participation of meaningful choice activities on the self-determination ability for people with intellectual disabilities residing in the facility. The subjects were 2 adults with intellectual disability. The intervention program was conducted 8 times a week for 1 hour. During the 8th session, the intervention program consisted of cooking activities to create and organize 8 dishes, and made choices to make decisions in the process of making the dishes so that the subjects could make choices. Self-determination ability measured the total time required for selection after providing three options for choice in each session intervention program. The results of this study were as follows. The results showed that the decision time required for selection was shortened in the 8th session compared with the 1st session in all two subjects. In the process of participating in the activity, positive emotional expression and concentration on participation were improved. This study confirms that the participation of meaningful activities that provide the opportunity of choice has a positive effect on the self-determination ability of people with intellectual disability.
