마인드셋(mindset), 학업성취도 및 리더십 간의 관계에 대한 연구

국문 초록

앞으로 다가올 미래사회는 급변하는 사회가 될 것이다. 예측하기 어려운 시대의 가장 효율적인 교육방법으로 심리학자인 Dweck은 마인드셋 개념을 제시하였다. 마인드셋은 성취를 요구하는 상황에서 학습자가 자신의 능력과 지능에 대해 갖고 있는 신념으로, 고착 마인드셋(fixed mindset)과 성장 마인드셋(growth mindset)으로 나뉜다. 고착 마인드셋은 능력과 지능이 이미 고정되어 있어 노력해도 바꿀 수 없다는 신념을, 성장 마인드셋은 경험과 노력을 통해 능력과 지능을 향상시킬 수 있다는 신념을 뜻한다. 해외에서 이루어진 기존의 몇몇 연구들은 성장마인드셋을 가진 사람은 학업성취도가 높고 리더십이 있는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 마인드셋의 개념과 학업성취도와의 관계, 그리고 마인드셋과 리더십과의 관계를 우리나라 고등학생들을 대상으로 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 성장마인드셋 점수가 높을수록 학업성취도가 높고, 리더십점수가 높은 것으로 나타나, 마인드셋과 학업성취도 및 리더십은 상호 관련이 있는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

Future society to come will be a rapidly changing society. Dweck, a psychologist, presented the concept of mindset as the most effective way of teaching in an age of unpredictability. Mindset is a belief that learners have about their ability and intelligence in situations requiring achievement. The mindset is divided into a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Fixed Mindset means the belief that ability and intelligence are already fixed and can not be changed even if you try, and the growth mindset means the belief that you can improve your ability and intelligence through experience and effort. Some existing studies from overseas have reported that those with a set of growth minds have high academic achievement and leadership. This study examined the relationship between the concept of mindset and academic achievement, and the relationship between mindset and leadership in Korean high school students. The results of the study showed that the higher the score of growth mindset, the higher the academic achievement and the higher the leadership score.
